Avenged Sevenfold (a veces escrito A7X) es una banda de Heavy Metal formada en 1999 en

Huntington Beach, California, EE. UU. Sus integrantes son M. Shadows (Voz, teclado), Zacky Vengeance (Guitarra rítmica, coros),

Synyster Gates (Guitarra líder, coros), Johnny Christ (Bajo, coros) y Mike Portnoy (Batería

temporal); anteriormente el puesto de baterista fue ocupado por The Rev hasta su temprana

muerte en diciembre del 2009.

Biografía. La banda fue formada en 1999 en Huntington Beach, California, con los miembros originales: M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance, The Rev y Matt Wendt. Shadows dijo que el nombre de la banda hace referencia a la historia bíblica de Caín y Abel, aunque también ha

manifestado que Avenged Sevenfold no es una banda

religiosa.

Biografía. Después de su formación, cada miembro de

la banda también escogió su seudónimo, que ya eran apodos de la escuela

secundaria. Después de la publicación de su álbum debut, la banda grabó dos demos en 1999 y 2000. su álbum debut, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet, fue grabado mientras los

miembros de la banda tenían apenas dieciocho años de edad y estaban aún en la preparatoria; fue originalmente publicado

con su primera discográfica, Good Life Records, en 2001.

Inicios de la banda.

Muerte de The rev. (James Sullivan.)

Sullivan fue encontrado muerto en su casa en Huntington Beach, California el 28 de diciembre del 2009, por su esposa Leana

McFadden, aproximadamente a la 1 pm. La policía de Huntington Beach informó que la

muerte fue a causas naturales, según la escena. Los resultados de la autopsia fueron

inconcluyentes.El informe toxicológico confirmó que James sufrió una “grave

intoxicación dado a efectos combinados de Oxicodona, Oxymorphone,

Diazepam/Nordiazepam y etanal.

Su funeral se llevó a cabo el 6 de enero del 2010, con la presencia de familiares y amigos, así como las bandas Good Charlotte, Lostprophets y el Sr.Brian Haner, padre del guitarrista Synyster Gates y guitarrista oficial acústico de la banda

No mucho después de su muerte la banda Avenged Sevenfold presentó este comunicado:

"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan.Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother.Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you willrespect their privacy during this difficult time".
