GARDENIn April we fall in love with the autumn colours arriving in all their glory in the Gallery’s heritage garden. With the warm, crisp days and longer, cooler nights, leaves begin to turn on the Boston ivy.The superb heritage gardens form an important and integral part of the Lewers Bequest and were designed and planted by artists Margo and Gerald Lewers.Find the beautiful colour contrasts as creamy Angel’s Trumpets continue to flower against the wall of ivy turning flaming red. The triple pointed leaves add show-stopping vibrancy and texture in the garden’s autumn palette, a perfect backdrop for an autumn wedding.Or bring paper and pencils, April is beautiful weather to draw the garden and inspiration is found everywhere in these creative grounds.Always a highlight, and looking especially beautiful against a backdrop of autumn colours, are the beautiful fountains, ponds and sculptural works created by Gerald Lewers – as well as sculptures by important Australian sculptors including Margel Hinder, Lyndon Dadswell and Bert Flugelman.

GALLERY SHOPCome into the Gallery’s shop and fall in love with Blue Mountains glass artist Keith Rowe’s autumn offering. After decades working amongst the heat and drama of a glass blowing studio, Keith looks like a frontiersman with wild curly hair held back by a twisted bandana. And yet he delicately captures transparent layers of colour in molten glass, creating unique, organic pieces that are a delight to encounter and an enduring pleasure to live with.

CAFÉ AT LEWERS Autumn is coming and at Café at Lewers, we are about to launch a new menu bursting with seasonal flavours. As always, we will be sourcing the best produce from regional suppliers, with eggplants and herbs coming straight from the Gallery’s heritage garden. Keep an eye on our chalkboard specials for the occasional love offering to delight your taste buds and warm your hearts – inspired by the autumn exhibition suite Marriage: Love + Law.
