Surrey Locals get keys to Hyundai’s First Canadian Fuel Cell Vehicle

Family from Surrey, BC received keys to a Tucson Fuel Cell vehicle, Hyundai’s newest zero emission SUV, at the Canadian International Auto Show

Canada’s first ever customers for a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle were introduced by Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada Corp., last week at the Canadian Inter-national Auto Show. Jennifer Ma, Clayton Crawley and their two children, hailing from Surrey, BC, received the keys to their new, zero emissions Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) for a 3-year lease.

The family was looking to replace their old vehicle with a more eco-friendly alternative that would suit their lifestyle. “Being a naturopath and chiropractor, I am conscientious about the environment and the impact we have upon it,” said Ma. “The Tucson is an amazing step in the right direction for us and for Hyundai. As a zero-emissions electric vehicle that can accommo-date everyone in our family, it really helps reduce our environmental footprint.”

“I work in biotech and am fascinated by fuel cell technology. I have been following the devel-opments in the fuel cell industry and was really impressed when Hyundai made its big an-nouncement,” said Crawley. “The Tucson Fuel Cell is an extraordinary machine and I’m looking forward to making it a part of my family’s everyday life.”

Canadians who are interested in the program can follow Ma and Crawley and their Tucson FCEV at www.HyundaiHydrogen.ca/my-Tucson. “Getting the first fuel cell vehicle on the road, with a real customer, is a significant achievement. But, we are only getting started” said Ro-mano. “We’ve seen a tremendous response to our call for applications, from Canadians at all walks of life, and we will deliver more vehicles to new customers very soon. There is a definite market for fuel cell vehicles in this country.”

The Hyundai Tucson FCEV takes less than 5 minutes to refuel and has an estimated range of 426 kilometres; both are comparable to the company’s existing gasoline-powered Tucson and eliminate the range anxiety or recharge-time compromises of battery electric vehicles.

Kia Recalling over 15,000 Vehicles in CanadaKia Motors America announced on January 24 they’re recalling around

87,000 of its 2014 Forte sedans.

The Kia recall comes as a precaution, saying they could have faulty equipment that could cause the cars to catch on fire. It will affect Kia Forte’s made from December 5, 2012 to April 2014, under the belief the cooling fan resistor could overheat and melt in those vehicles.

Kia Canada says the recall affects nearly 15,905 vehicles in Canada.

The recall is expected to begin February 24, 2015.

Owners of affected vehicles are being advised to contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Lexus RC F GT3 Concept Car Leads Charge into Global Racing

The Lexus RC F GT3 concept is made its Canadian debut at the Canadian Inter-national Auto Show (CIAS) and prom-

ises to raise Lexus’ racing ambitions on an un-precedented scale – beginning this year, with hopes of competing in the FIA GT3 category in Europe.

The concept race car is based on the spec-tacular new RC F coupe. With a modified ver-sion of the RC F’s 5.0-litre V8 engine, the GT3 delivers output exceeding 540 horsepower.

“Engineered to thrill both visually and through uncompromising performance, the RC F GT3 concept truly is ‘Amazing in Mo-tion,’” said Cyril Dimitris, Director, Lexus Can-ada. “The RC F GT3 is poised to have a major impact on the development of future Lexus vehicles, because the lessons learned and ad-vances made from participating in such high levels of racing will lead to enhancements that can be applied to future Lexus products.”

The Lexus RC F is based on the spectacular new RC coupe, but it features wider wheels and tires, an active rear wing, air scoops, cool-ing ducts and carbon fibre components – each delivering “functional beauty.”

Ford recently revealed the all-new Focus RS, a high-performance road car that de-buts Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control, which contributes to performance never before seen in a Focus RS. The all-new Fo-cus RS is equipped with a new 2.3-litre EcoBoost® engine producing well in excess of 315 horsepower. Focus RS is the latest unveiling in a new era of Ford performance that will bring more than 12 performance vehicles to global customers by 2020.

The all-new Focus RS exploits innovative new Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring to deliver a new level of handling capability and driver enjoyment, combining outstanding traction and grip with exciting agility and cornering speed.

The Ford Performance All-Wheel-Drive system is based on twin electronically con-trolled clutch packs on each side of the rear drive unit. These manage the car’s front/rear torque split, and can control the side-to-side torque distribution on the rear axle – delivering the “torque vectoring” capability that has a dramatic impact on handling and cornering stability.

The control unit in the rear drive unit continuously varies the front/rear and side-to-side torque distribution to suit the current driving situation, monitoring inputs from multiple vehicle sensors 100 times per second. A maximum of 70 per cent of the drive torque can be diverted to the rear axle. Up to 100 per cent of available torque at the rear axle can be sent to each rear wheel.

Ford’s EcoBoost technology powers Focus RS and nearly every new Ford vehicle. The specially engineered 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine has levels of power and torque that translate into impressive acceleration when combined with the exceptional all-wheel-drive traction.

Projected to produce well in excess of 315 horsepower, the custom unit shares its fundamental structure with the all-aluminum 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine in the all-new Mustang, but has been significantly upgraded through a comprehensive pack-age of design changes.

Increased output is generated by a new low-inertia twin-scroll turbo-charger with larger compressor that delivers significantly greater airflow, along with a much bigger intercooler to maximize charge density. Engine breathing is enhanced through a less restrictive intake design, and a large-bore high-performance exhaust system with an electronically controlled valve in the tailpipe that helps optimize the bal-ance of back pressure and noise output.

The cylinder head is produced from an upgraded alloy ma-terial capable of withstand-ing higher temperatures, and is mounted on a more robust head gasket with improved thermal capability. The cylinder block employs stronger high-tensile cast iron liners.

Engine cooling also has been given the highest pri-ority, with engineers creating additional space within the front of the vehicle to house a significantly larger radiator pack that provides the level of cooling demanded for hard circuit use.

Meticulous calibration work ensures that the power unit delivers excellent low-end responsiveness with a powerful mid-range pull, climbing to a free-revving top end up to a maximum rev limit of 6,800 rpm.

The six-speed manual transmission has been optimized for the enthusiast driver with a shorter gear lever to deliver faster and more accurate shifts. Both the trans-mission and the clutch have been

RS features a powerful new front end appearance with a bold upper trapezoidal grille above the deep splitter, incorporating the largest possible apertures for en-gine cooling. A wide, muscular stance is emphasized by the lower wings and large outboard openings on each side of the car, which feed the brake cooling ducts and house vertically mounted lamps.

At the rear, the fascia panel is dominated by the exceptionally large diffuser, which optimizes airflow from under the vehicle and contains the twin round high-perfor-mance exhaust outlets. Focus RS for Europe and Asia markets will also get a clear central fog lamp. The distinctive rear roof spoiler is carefully integrated with the car’s silhouette through body-colored side panels featuring a subtle embossed RS logo.

The launch car revealed in Cologne, Germany features the same special Liquid Blue color scheme first seen on the all-new Ford GT revealed last month at the North American Interna- tional Auto Show.

Nissan Debuts 370Z Nismo Roadster Concept and GT-R LM Nismo

Nissan unveiled two exciting new executions of its “Innovation that Excites” philosophy at a press conference at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show – the Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept and the GT-R LM NISMO race car.

The Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept is designed to provide the best of two worlds – the open-air driving exhilaration of a standard 370Z Roadster and the racing-inspired style and performance of a 370Z NISMO Coupe. It offers unique engine, suspension, exterior and interior features versus standard Nissan 370Z Roadster models – including a 350-horsepower 3.7-litre V6 and NISMO-tuned suspension.

The Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept’s striking visual presence starts with the addition of GT-R-inspired functional and fully integrated aerodynamic body pieces, including a custom carbon-fibre rear spoiler created exclusively for use on the 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept. Inside, the NISMO-styled interior is just as stunning, anchored by black Recaro® seats with custom off-white Ultrasuede® inserts.”

The 370Z NISMO Roadster Concept would join the current Nissan 370Z NISMO coupe model, expanding the NISMO lineup to five models, if approved for

production.

There is no doubt the Mazda6 truly is not only “all new,” it is also a hell of a good looking car. Making use of Mazda’s “KODO” design language, the sweeping lines of this mid-size elegant coupe flow smoothly from nose to tail. Muscu-

lar shoulders, a strong character line down the side, the bold pontoon-style front fenders house both 17” and 18” inch wheels and in our tester case big impressive looking 19 inch bright finish alloys. The sleek elegant front visage all add to what is a dramatic coupe-styled family sedan.

Based on what Mazda is calling its “jinba-ittai” design concept (translated as “rider and horse as one,” the new Mazda6 is a totally new automobile, from front to back

Our tester was a stunning Aluminum Metallic Mica painted Mazda6 GT SKYACTIVE with the six speed manual transmission. Priced at a base $32,195, our car came with options such as camera and radar sensor-based safety technologies, such as: Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning system and Smart City Brake Support, which can actually apply the brakes should the driver not take effective action at low speeds.

Initially just one engine will be available in Canada; namely an all-new 2.5 litre “Sky-Activ-G” four-cylinder producing 184 hp and 189 lb.-ft. of torque. Mazda’s SkyActiv technology is something of note. Whilst other auto manufactures offer hybrid tech-nology, Mazda to their credit gone back to getting the basics right with a fanatical quest to save weight even just a few grams in items like bolts and fasteners and on redesigning component for more efficiency

Pricing is very attractive with a well-equipped GS model starting at the $24,595 mark; and a fully loaded GT version with the Technology Package weighing in at $34,195. The interior is sophisticated and well laid out. Cabin room is good in front with only a slight headroom issue in the back due to that arcing rear roofline.

One thing I really liked was the shallowness of the dashboard which is closer to the windscreen and shorter so giving it a less cluttered feel in the front cab-in. You don’t have this giant expanse or “aircraft carrier” of black plastic between you and the hood of the car.

Options include black or white leather trim is avail-able power-adjusted seats, navigation sys-

tem, and SiriusXM satellite radio. As mentioned before Mazda’s Technology safety package is very impressive: Smart City Brake Support, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, High Beam Control, Forward Obstruction Warning, and Lane Departure Warning technology all do their job very well in various situations.

On the road the Mazda6 drives as good as it looks. With the radical new SkyActiv technology, comprising of lightweight, highly efficient engineering dynamics the Mazda6 delivers excellent power, performance and fuel economy. Available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic mated to the 2.5L I4 engine, the Mazda6 is fast, responsive and deliver good fuel economy at (litres/100 km): 7.6 city/5.1 high-way (automatic) and 8.1 City/5.3 highways for the 2.5 engine equipped with the manual transmission.

I found Mazda still possessed the trademark attributes of sporty handling, adaptive suspension and fast acceleration. The electrically assisted steering is light and well-modulated. Overall it performed well with good brakes and cornering ability. the Mazda6 also has what it takes to be a comfortable long distance cruiser.

Also of major interest is news that an available diesel variant of the 201 Mazda6 may be arriving shortly, as well. This 173 hp 2.2 litre “SkyActiv-D” turbodiesel four cylinder is reported to have an awesome estimated 310 lb-ft of torque and should be even more fuel efficient. It has some excellent reviews so here’s hoping!

All in all, Mazda has been smart and in the very intense mid-size sedan segment have done all the right things in updating the Mazda6 offering a slew of technology and safety aids without pricing itself out of the market. This is a very competent, visually exciting and fine handling car to drive and own. Highly recommended.

What are the best Vehicles to buy in Canada for 2015Automotive Journalist Association of Canada announces Best family car and Utility vehicle winners for 2015

Special report by Veeno Dewan

Believe it or not, it is a pickup truck not some econobox sedan that has been the top selling vehicle in Canada in 2014. Forget about the Honda Civic, the Toyota Corolla or the Hyundai Elantra being top of the overall sales charts. You may not

know this, but it is the Ford’s F-Series full-sized pickup truck that was the best-selling vehicle of any type sold ─more than 126,000 vehicles made their ways to buyer’s drive-ways for the fifth year in a row in 2014. Another amazing fact is the F-150 still retains its title as Canada’s best-selling pickup truck for the last 49 years in a row. In contrast the Toyota Corolla sold 48,881 copies, whilst Honda sold 66,057 of its. Hyundai managed to sell 50,420 Elantra’s.

So if you are on a lookout for a vehicle this year. The best starting guide to looking at what is on offer it to reference the 2015 AJAC Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) TestFest 2015 Canadian Car of the Year and 2015 Canadian Utility ve-hicle of the year.

The fully comprehensive rating and award winner categories tested as many vehicles as possible for sale in Canada – from the small car under $21,000 segment (Winner- 2015 Honda Fit.) to the Prestige performance over $75,000 category (Winner – 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo S.)

So, exactly how does AJAC evaluate and choose winners? Well, category winners repre-sent the vote results of the largest group of Canada’s most trusted nd experienced auto-motive journalists, who travel each October to Niagara Falls, Ontario for a five-day test-

drive evaluation of new-to the market or updated vehicle models. The event, known as “TestFest,” includes real-world driving on public roads in order to evaluate as many vehicle parameters as possible. These include: safety, on road performance, features, comfort, cargo space, value for money and numerous other categories.

“TestFest is the most intensive new vehicle evaluation process on the planet,” said CCOTY Co-Chair, Gary Grant. “No other organization employs such stringent testing methods to determine their car of year award winners. Data driven and Canadian ex-pertise: that’s what makes an AJAC winner”.

The rigorous testing program includes “real world” driving on public roads – exactly where consumers drive - so that the test data and vote results are directly relevant to potential car and truck buyers. The results are not based on the personal opinion of just one or two journalists. Instead, the 73 automotive journalists each drove a vehicle in 15 categories back-to-back on the same day, under the same conditions, to ensure fair and objective comparisons.’ says Grant

“Our program is absolutely testing-based”, explains CCOTY Co-Chair Justin Pritchard. “We’ve got dozens of experienced vehicle testers driving dozens of vehicles, back to back, over the course of several days. This testing process generated 1,640 test drives producing approximately 106,405 data points and 500 category ballots. It’s important to note that every aspect of this testing data is shared online via our web site so that shoppers can see how a given vehicle won its category, or how it stacked up to the

category winner”.

The goal is, ultimately, to provide highly relevant consumer-driven information for Canadian shoppers to take with them in the marketplace.

As an Auto journalist who has traveled and participated in testing for AJAC at TEST FEST, I can at-tribute and say firsthand the criteria, judging and hard work that goes into testing so many cars in such a short time is both challenging and rewarding.

Most of the winners were announced in December 2014, but it was only last week that the final 2015 Canadian Car of the Year and 2015 Canadian Utility vehicle of the year were announced as follows.

2015 AJAC Canadian Car of the Year Winner - Subaru Legacy

The 2015 Subaru Legacy was named the Canadian Car of the Year by the Automobile Journal-ists Association of Canada (AJAC) at this year’s Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto last week.

Despite heavy competition from the stalwart Volkswagen Golf, the much improved Hyundai Genesis and the evocative Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Auto journalist chose the Subaru Legacy for its standout design, interior refinement and safety technology along with one of the roomiest interiors in the midsize sedan segment. It’s also one of the only finalists offered with All-Wheel Drive as standard. Like all Subaru models, the 2015 Legacy is an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety TOP SAFETY PICK and models equipped with its optional EyeSight preventative safety technology have earned a superior rating and TOP SAFETY PICK PLUS award.

2015 AJAC Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year Winner - Ford F-150

This year’s Utility Vehicle of the Year went to the 2015 Ford F-150, outscoring the Subaru Outback and the Porsche Macan in AJAC Journalist testing. The New F-150 also won the North American Truck of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show last January. Amongst the reasons the All-new F-150 won were its best towing and payload capability among full-size pickups, fuel economy, Performance driving and multiple configurations or engine choices In addition along with this year’s Canadian Car and Utility Vehicle of the Year awards, the Ford F-150‘s all-aluminum body was recognized as this year’s best new innova-tion technology,

The cleanliness of your vehicle’s interior is as important as its exterior. A well-kept interior adds quality to your driving experience and offers the ultimate in comfort and safety. Cleaning the exterior can be as simple as a quick trip

through the car wash or hand-applying car wash, wax, detailer and other car ex-terior cleaning products. The interior of your car is a different story because if you want to keep it clean, you really have to work at it. Here are some tips for keeping your vehicle’s interior neat and clean. Caring for you Vehicle’s Interior.

Interior car and maintenance

For the best results, get in there with a high-powered vacuum that has a hose and attachments so you can clean out every crevice. A coin-operated vacuum at a car wash is a great place to start. A quick note about vacuuming car floor mats: remove them from the car and shake them out to get rid of excess dirt prior to vacuuming.

Get rid of those blemishes by using a carpet and upholstery cleaner. These cleaners are specially formulated to deep clean your seats and carpets while not saturating

Vehicle Care Basics 101

them with moisture (you want to avoid heavy amounts of moisture as this actually promotes mold growth). Higher quality floor mats come pre-treated with Scotch-gard™. For rubber floor mats, a good power wash will get the grime, gook and grossness out of your vehicle.

If your vehicle has leather seats, you should keep them looking their best as stained, ripped, and/or cracked seats, besides being unsightly, might also hurt the resale value of your vehicle. A vacuum can, and should, be used to get rid of the surface dirt on any kind of seat. For a deeper clean, a special leather cleaner should be used on leather seats (followed by a leather conditioner to protect them).

The windows of your vehicle are maybe the most important part of your interior to keep clean. After all, clean windows make for better visibility. Getting rid of all the various smudges, fingerprints, and even paw prints – if you have a pet who frequently rides along with you – will allow you to see better while making your car simply look nice. Select glass cleaners even provide a water repellent formula that beads and wisps away water allowing for better visibility.

Did you know that having a cluttered trunk can affect your vehicle’s fuel economy? Keeping items in there all the time can add weight to your car, which causes the engine to work harder when you drive, thus burning more fuel. If you don’t abso-lutely need to haul something around in your trunk on a given day, it should be empty. organizers, dash caddies and seat organizers keep the mess at bay while allowing you to quickly and easily vacuum up debris.

Exterior Care and Maintenance The best way to protect the paint on you vehicle is to park it a garage or under cover. If that is not possible, park in the shade or purchase a car cover. The sun’s ultraviolet rays break down paint and cause it to fade. Or invest in a car covers pro-tect your – most covers also have a thin layer of cushioning to protect from light dings and scratches.

If you do get a scratch it’s a good idea to touch up nicks sooner rather than later.

Touch-up paint won’t adhere well to rust. So be sure to keep some matching touch-up paint on hand so you can touch up any minor nicks, often found around door edges, before rust has a chance to form.

Got a rock chip, crack, or ding in your windshield? Get it fixed ASAP by a profes-sional before the chips and cracks from spreading and restore structural integrity, they also improve clarity.

Never exceed your car’s roof load specifications or weight limits.

If you rarely wash your car during messy winter weather, you are not alone. How-ever winter washing is more important in at this times than any other time of the year. All that sand, slush, and ice mixed with road salt is exactly what makes your car rust.

Finally, wax to protect your car’s paint job. Waxing is hard work, but it will help keep your car looking as good as new. Car wax preserves paint by slowing oxida-tion and forming a barrier against bird droppings, sap, and pollution.

Follow these tips and keep your car looking good all year round!

audio controls and headphone jacks. The 2LT version also adds the MyLink infotainment interface, which includes Bluetooth audio connectivity, Internet radio app integration and new Siri Eyes Free technology.

The premium LTZ model offers 20-inch alloy wheels, power-folding mirrors, a blind-spot monitoring system, a rear cross-traffic alert system, forward collision warning and lane-departure alert. Inside there are leather upholstery, driver memory functions, an eight-way power front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and a navigation system integrated into MyLink.

The new MyLink system option features Siri Eyes Free technology, which allows drivers with newish iPhones to ask Siri to read and respond to text messages, place phone calls, and play music via steering wheel mounted controls. Owners of Android phones can use the same button to access their phone’s voice recognition capabilities.

The ride quality is comfortable, composed and quiet on the highway. Road manners are very good with good steering and handling. The Traverse offers StabiliTrak®, traction control and an available full-time active all-wheel drive (AWD) system to handle rough road conditions.

The 3.6-liter V6 is surprisingly good on fuel with a Canadian EnerGuide fuel economy rat-ings of 12.7 L/100km city; 8.4 L/100km hwy. With its handsome styling, seven or eight seater capacity the Traverse is an ideal family hauler.

Calling 2015 the “Year of Honda,” the company showcased multiple inno-vative products and technologies at the recent the 2015 North Ameri-can International Auto Show that will make 2015 an extraordinary year

for the company and its customers. Making its first North American appearance, the Honda FCV Concept demonstrates the company’s continued evolution of its next-generation fuel cell car, slated for introduction in the U.S. in 2016. In an effort to showcase Honda’s numerous innovative technologies and wide-ranging mo-bility prowess, the automaker also showcased the HondaJet advanced light jet, the global unveiling of the highly anticipated Acura NSX mid-engine supercar, the UNI-CUB personal mobility device and the return of Honda to Formula One racing.

“No other automaker in the world has the depth of R&D know-how and experi-ence to create such a diverse array of advanced technology products, let alone bring them to market,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “These all-new products and technologies represent signif-icant advancements for our customers and for the future of mobility everywhere; innovations that only a comprehensive mobility company like Honda can truly achieve.”

The “Year of Honda” will be marked by the 2015 introduction of iconic and inno-vative products and a new expression of Honda’s racing spirit.

· Customer deliveries of the North Carolina-made HondaJet advanced light jet, which is powered by two GE-Honda HF120 turbofan engines, will begin this year after Federal Aviation Administration type certification is achieved.

· The next-generation Acura NSX supercar will begin orders in late summer, with customer deliveries expected later in the year.

· Honda F1 racing power, in the form of a new power unit – a 1.6-liter turbo-charged engine and hybrid-type kinetic and thermal energy recovery systems – will return to Formula One through Honda’s partnership with McLaren and driv-ers Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, beginning with the opening race of the series in Melbourne, Australia on March 15, 2015.

The company also announced aggressive plans for future product and technol-ogy introductions, including:

· The introduction of Honda’s next-generation fuel cell vehicle, as highlighted by the stunning design and spacious interior in the Honda FCV Concept.

· An all-new battery electric vehicle and an all-new plug-in hybrid vehicle by 2018 and further application of Honda’s two- and three-motor hybrid systems, as part of the next phase of Honda’s commitment to advanced powertrain technologies that enable ultra-low carbon mobility.

· The spring 2015 launch of the all-new 2016 HR-V crossover and the introduc-tion this summer of a fully redesigned Pilot 8-passenger SUV, followed by a new Ridgeline pickup truck in 2016 – part of the step-by-step strengthening of the Honda light truck lineup that will help fuel future growth.

· Before the end of the year, Honda will begin to introduce our new 4-cylinder VTEC® Turbo engines – an extension of its Earth Dreams™ Technology powertrain lineup – that will deliver fun-to-drive performance and fuel efficiency at a very high level. Production of the new VTEC® Turbo engines will begin later this year at Honda’s Anna, Ohio, engine plant, the largest automobile engine plant in Honda’s global production network. Honda is investing $340 million at the Anna Engine Plant to produce the VTEC® Turbo 4-cylinder engines, a third assembly line for production of 4-cylinder engines and additional manufacturing innovations.

set up and well calibrated damping allow for a smooth, unobtrusive ride much appreciated by occupants. The steering has well on center felt with a nicely weighted power steering setup. The six speed CVT works well e n o u g h with smooth glitch free shifts.

If you do need the extra power- I recommend the V6-equipped Outlanders which can haul 1,590 kg in towing capacity yet still offers an esti-mated fuel economy of 10.1L/100 km city and 7.1L hwy. Whilst the V6 is becom-ing a rarity in the compact SUV market, the option of having one to provide more than ample power should you need it. The V6 is a smooth, yet lively performer with power output rated at 224 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque.

It is important to note that with Mitsubi-shi’ stellar rallying heritage, the new Out-lander offer excellent off road performance if needed via a number of modes in the All- wheel drive system. Note: You can order the two wheel drive version for instance with Mitsubishi’s latest AWD system, known as All Wheel Control (AWC) which offers an Eco mode that will activate the rear driving wheels when road conditions demand more grip in

light snow, for example. This system does not transmit full power just what is needed for better fuel economy.

The Super All-Wheel Control as found on the top line GT Outlander also has four different modes for a variety of conditions: Eco, Normal,

Snow for more traction and the top Lock mode that adjust throttle response and other parameters for maximum traction in heavier snow and more adverse

driving conditions.

To sum up the new 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander of-fers many news features and a fairly substantial

makeover. It also provides the option of: an economical four cylinder engine

and more powerful performance derived V6 engine, high end safe-ty features and the provision of three seating rows for seven oc-cupants. 2014 Mitsubishi Outland-er priced from: $25,998 - $35,998
