Faith and Education

St. Barbara Parish is a Roman Catholic community celebrating a century of faith in the Bridgeport area. Our faith community welcomes all people, helping them grow spiritually through liturgy, prayer, and education, and socially through activities for all ages. Our school takes great pride in fostering these values in our children. We give witness to our faith by sharing with each other our God-given gifts and talents. We nourish and sustain our faith as a family by celebrating the sacraments and the presence of the risen Lord among us in the Eucharist.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today is the feast of the Transfiguration. Jesus brought three Apostles: Peter, James, and John, with him to Mount Tabor to pray. On this mountain, Jesus was transfigured. Next, the Apostles saw Mo-ses and Elijah talking with Jesus. Then, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell on their fac-es, and were filled with awe. But Jesus came and touched them, saying: "Rise, and have no fear." “Lord Jesus, keep me always alert to you, to your word, your action, and your constant presence in my life. Let me see your glory. Give me grace in my time of need, especially when I’m in fear and diffi-culty.”

“To see a World in a Grain of Sand and a Heaven in a Wild Flower, hold Infinity in the palm of your hand and Eternity in an hour.” William Blake
