AUDIENCE FEEDBACK ON MY ANCILLARY TEXTS

BY CARRIE WOODHEAD

Q1- HOW EFFECTIVE DO YOU THINK MY DIGI-PAK AND MAGAZINE ADVERT ARE?

The first question I included in my survey was to find out how effective my ancillary texts are, this was to see if they meet their purpose and actually advertise the product. Of the ten people that I sent the survey too 60% said they thought my Digi-Pak was very effective and 40% also chose this option for my magazine advert. These results are overall very positive as nobody chose the option that either of the products were not effective. They do however show that people seem to think my Digi-Pak is more effective that my magazine advert. I actually agree with this outcome as the Digi-Pak has a wide range of different images and designs within it, and the combination of these seem to appear more effective than a single poster advertisement does.

Q2- HOW CLEAR DO YOU THINK IT IS THAT BOTH OF THESE ARE FOR THE SAME PRODUCT?

I decided on the next question as a way to see if both of my ancillary texts work well together and clearly advertise the same product. I had attempted for this to be obvious by using the same images and font throughout the two products. 90% of the respondents answered that they thought this was very clear whilst 10% thought it was quite clear. I am very happy with this outcome as one of my main concerns was to make all three of my products relate to each other and have similarities so they look to be part of the same advertising campaign. Overall everyone answered that it was clear that they were for the same product in some way meaning I had achieved the outcome I had originally planned.

Q3- DO YOU THINK IT IS OBVIOUS WHAT PRODUCT THESE ARE BOTH ADVERTISING?The main purpose of an advertisement is for the audience to be aware of the product and hopefully gain an interest in purchasing it, this is why I decided my third question would relate to if its obvious what products my ancillary texts are advertising. Once again 90% of the respondents answered that it was obvious what the product being advertised was, which means this advertisements are successful as that is the main purpose of them. 10% did reply with the answer unsure whilst nobody chose the answer no. I am happy with these figures as I would not want people to see an advertisement and be unaware of what is actually being advertised, and therefore will not be able to recognise or know what the product is suppose to be.

Q4- DO YOU THINK BOTH OF THESE PRODUCTS ARE CONVENTIONAL IN COMPARISON TO EXISTING EXAMPLES?

The final question I had placed in my survey was to find out if my products are conventional compared to existing products. This is because I wanted my products to give the illusion of being real and have similarities to existing advertisements out there. I have used some of these common conventions but have also challenged some, so I was not sure what the answers to this question would show. They did however show that 90% do this the products are conventional and 10& were once again unsure. This means overall I have managed to have a level of professionalism to them in comparison to some existing examples.
