Attachment 2. Continued. West Klanawa River treatment summary

Polygon Comments1a Stand occupies immediate river edge. Fall PSd between pockets of MFc(m), leave Dr within 2 m of edge if not at risk of washing out. PLCwBa(Hw). Go to river edge if stable. Girdle Dr leaning away from planting spots1b Girdle pole-sapling Dr, thin PSc to 300 - 500 sph, variable spacing preferred, Target preferred species: CwBaSs. Leave Ss tight if heavy weevil damage1c As per polygon 1b2 Remove overstory in gaps, PLCwBaSs(Ac) in clusters 3-10 trees, Elevated microsites only, inter-tree distance 2.5-4.5 m, PLSs on all decayed stumps, logs and debris piles. CR advanced regen. Leave Dr between gaps, 1/2-2/3TL

3a As per polygon 2, but younger, treat M-H bench, do not treat L bench PSd/Dr. Release advanced conifer regen (CR) by falling or girdling in YFd/m patches. Leave strips may be thinned or not, CR all advanced conifer regen3b Area mostly older YFd alder, CR advanced conifer regeneration by fallling or girdling3c As per polygons 2 and 3b. PL south 2/3rds, top end may have >conifer, apply CR. Swing treatment area along topside (N-NW) following old vegetated channel. Stay on M-H bench only4 An island polygon, M bench, treat as per 2, 3b, NT PSd patch on L bench along NE boundary. SE corner has multi-stemed Mb, thin odd Mb to give dominant stems canopy space, girdle Dr in direct competion with Mb, treat entire polygon 5 As per polygons 2, 3b. Large area with long frontage. Work around patches of YFc. YFc is NT at this time, but girdle Dr if in competition. Banks actively eroding, try to fall Dr where tear outs risk eroding stable HwCwSs6 Similar to polygon 4, but with some small patches of heavier advanced conifer regen. M bench. Treat as per 2 with CR as appropriate. Island lies within RRZ, treat entire unit6 Stand is heavy to conifer, with some continuous RVT2 (overstocked conifer), treat along mainstem and flood channel. Blowdown occuring, mix treat - PL openings, give SsCw crown space by girdling or falling, CR 5 Continuation of polygon 5 from Map 3, treat M-H bench only, lower south boundary vegetated bar is L bench NT. YFc is NT, do top and bottom ends along with wedge separating L bench from the inside YFc8 Stand predominantly dominant to conifer. Girdle Dr in YFc sections or around advanced conifer regen, if Ss present do IC - individual conifer release by girdling or falling adjacent Dr or Hw. Give priority to full canopy space9 Small PSd stand immediately N of bridge, space Dr by girdlilng to 200 sph and CR any conifer regen, use 3 m radius. Retain largest diameter Dr

10 Junction polygon of mainstream and major channel, dominant to YFd, but with mixed conifer back from the river. Concentrate on river side 20-30 m, PL pure Dr, CR advanced conifer. Regen, NT small YFc patch at NE corner 11a Large area, mostly uniform RVT4, isolated advanced conifer regen throughout. Treat all as per polygon 2, PL, CR, in disbursed patches of largest conifers girdle Dr in direct competition. M-H bench11b M-L bench of PSd/Dr(HwSs), CR primarily, PL if good microsites, OT alder to 300 sph 11a Continuation of polygon 11 from map 4. NT low bench on SW corner, CR in YFm, girdle Dr when mixed with largest conifers12 Corner bend stand. NT L bench, work M-H bench only. Thin overstory Dr to 200 sph, PL openings created. Be aggressive on south side where YFd(m). CR, PL as needed13 Similar to other Dr dominated sites, but more disbursed patches of YFc/m. 46-years old, large diameter Dr, 30 m tall, requires larger gaps. In YFc - fall/girdle Dr in direct competion target conifers14 One of several L bench sites prescribed. Dense Dr with some conifer regen. NT is acceptable, low productivity site. Treat disbursed conifer by girdling/hinging Dr within 3-5 m radius15 Same as 14 above, slightly higher, low/low-medium bench, girdle/hnge Dr within 3-5 m radius of disbursed conifers16 Treat as per polygon 1316 Continuation of polygon 16 from Map 617a YFd polygon beginning on mapsheet 6 that extends NW on to mapsheet 7, YFd, treat as per polygon 13 17a Continuation of polygon 17a from Map 6, area not traversed, polygon located on south side of river, YFd, treat as per polygon 1317b Treat as per polygon 17a18 Upper Klanawa site. M to L bench. Release all advanced conifer regen >1.5 m tall by girdling or falling within 5 m. Leave 100 - 150 sph of largest DrA outside released conifers (OT). Planting not required19 Apply OT to alder along river in section (retain best trees). Work immediate stream edge - mostly first 10-15 m. Girdle/fall. Give dominant trees enough space to achieve full crown development. Apply CR as necessary20 Treat Dr as per polygon 18. Stand not traversed, likely to contain overstocked CwHwBa west of immediate stream corridor. Where present, thin to 300-500 sph, give preference to Ss,Cw,Ba21 Treat as per polygon 20. May contain larger patches of overstocked CwHwBa with some close to stream, where present thin as per 20
