The influence oftorsionalstressontheasymmetricmagnetoimpedanceinaglass-coatednegativemagnetostrictiveamorphousmicrowireduetobiascurrentisstudiedtheoretically.Thelongitudinalandoff-diagonal impedancecomponentsarefoundassumingasimplified spatialdistributionofthemagnetoelastic anisotropyinducedbythetorsionalstress.Theasymmetryinthe field dependenceofthe impedancecomponentsisattributedtothecombinationofthecircularmagnetic field producedbythe biascurrentandahelicalanisotropyinducedbythetorsionalstress.Theasymmetryinthemagnetoimpedance andthelow-field hysteresisareanalyzedasafunctionofthebiascurrentandtorsional stress.Itisshownthattheapplicationoftorsionalstresssignificantly changesthevalueofthebias currentrequiredtosuppressthehysteresiseffect.Theresultsobtainedmaybeusefulforapplicationsin magnetic-field andstresssensors.
