Duxbury Football ● 20 (+) hours of community service● $7,200 dollars split between the Beth Israel

Deaconess Plymouth Breast Cancer and Best Buddies

● 400 + Coats (brand new) & a full van of toys donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester

● travelled to Dorchester to put on a clinic for the B&G Club of Dorchester

● hosted the Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester Club at homecoming game

● the entire team raked the yard of Lt. Tim Steele's parents

● The team volunteered at the Boosters Antique show moving furniture

● performed & donated goods to Best Buddies Talent Show.

homeless● prepared food to be delivered to homebound

patients and homeless women in Boston through Rosie’s Place

● handed out water to runners at the Duxbury Half Marathon

● rebuilt cages for shelter cats at the Duxbury Humane Shelter.

DHS Choirs, PAC Man and Here Comes Treble● Many hours of performance service like caroling at Holly Days, Town Tree

Lighting, and many other events in the community.

Project 351Project 351 is a service organization that engages students, from every town in Massachusetts, in annual service drives. This year, Duxbury High School participated in a 9/11 service drive, a food drive, and a clothing drive. In total, the High School donated over 200 packs of gum, 1000 pounds of food, $400, and 50 bags of clothes. Congratulations and thanks to all that participated!!

Ink Blot and the Dragon Flyer - Journalism Classes

● Ink Blot just released a 24-page magazine yesterday → collecting collects poetry and short stories from students at DHS, and print editions of it will be available in the library and in the front office.

● The Dragon Flyer covering topics in politics, DHS life, pop culture, and the arts., with updates almost

● Weekly comic strip called Oliver's Quest● series of student and staff profiles called Humans of DHS● published an investigative series of articles examining recycling at DHS● At the annual conference of the New England Scholastic Press Association, the paper

won two achievement awards for articles, one achievement award for the investigative recycling series, and one superior award for our publication as a whole.

DHS Field Hockey● Donated $1,100 to Mass General Hospital’s Breast Cancer Research

Fund.● Team supports a BCA charity every year!● 2016 raised money donated exceeded 2015’s donation.● Mass General was chosen this year in support of a former DHS Field

Hockey player’s mother who was treated at MGH.

Class of 2019- Sophomores Officers: James Donohue, Morgan Cleary, Nick Rubin, Aaden Fantom, Morgan Slayter

1) Class t-shirts - students to wear during spirit week and the pep rally. The t-shirts raised over $1000 for the class.

2) Prom - The class officers, along with the Prom committee devoted a great deal of time to deciding on the best location for Prom. We researched many different places and surveyed the class, but decided that The Aquarium would be the best fit for the class as whole.

3) Touch a truck - We had weekly meetings with the Freshman class officers to prepare for the event which raised more than $1500 for the class.

4) Project 351 Events: donating packs of gum to soldiers at the start of the school year

This year, Duxbury High School Defined Its Legacy by working and serving for others. A majority of students this year took genuine interest in their school and community by being involved in clubs, sports, organizations, drama,

music, academics, and in many other personal pathways. DHS is filled with determined students and teachers, and

we all should be proud of what we have accomplished together as a school. Our hope is that next year everyone can be standing up, representing that they too strived to

be involved and make this school and town a better, more positive place.
