While we understand that LinkedIn is a completely personal choice, we would like to share some hints and tips about how to make your profile stand out from the crowd and work a little harder for you and the company you work for.

How many do you know with a drink in hand wearing unprofessional clothing? Again, countless! Unfortunately, first impressions count and it’s important that you represent yourself professionally online, especially on a professional platform like LinkedIn when you’re affiliated with a company. Don’t forget about your background image and contact details too.

Adding in work history to your profile will demonstrate to your colleagues your breadth of experience and knowledge in your industry as well as demonstrating to prospective clients your knowledge of different industries and how this would work for their business.

Have you worked on an award winning website, or won an award for customer service?

You should showcase this on your LinkedIn page to show people that you’ve been recognized for your work or the team on which you worked on were able to create an award winning product or service.

Ask for recommendations and endorsements

from friends and colleagues - Recommendations from colleagues and friends will boost your profile and serve you well with both your current employer and with prospective clients. The more recommendations your profile has the better and it makes your ‘online CV’ stand out from the crowd. Endorsements are normally easier to source as it’s just a click of a button but a recommendation can be harder to come by as they require significant effort.
