Postcards of Kindness: Activity Staff Member Chloe also thought Arbour Court Residents needed something extra in regards to communication and came across a page on Facebook called ‘Postcards of Kindness’ which is a page full of people from all around the world and the aim is for them to send postcards to care homes for residents to read and in some cases write back. It is a lovely idea and we have received quite a few postcards already which are on display in the upstairs lounge around a big red

post box.

Parent and Toddlers Movers Class:

Activity Staff Member Chloe Booth had an idea of mixing the younger and the older generations together as it has such amazing benefits for both parties. Therefore she took to Facebook on Marple’s Community Page to ask if there was any baby or toddler group hosts interesting in bringing their class to be held at Arbour Court Care Home. The amount of people that wanted to get involved was just amazing and she managed to get it organized to start on the 26th September, if all goes well it will take place ever last Thursday of the month. We have had lots of donations of toddler toys for all the children to play with after the class has finished whilst they come and meet our residents and eat cakes provided by our chefs.

Jeans for Genes Day: On Friday 20th September, we are trying to raise some money for the charity ‘Jeans for Genes’ by all coming to work in jeans and donating a pound! Please hand all donations over to Mel in Reception.

Halloween:

As we are a Dementia Home, Halloween can sometimes be quite scary for our

residents therefore instead of decorating with ghosts and spiders we will be doing some Halloween themed arts and crafts and putting them up for display instead.

Birthdays: At Arbour Court we celebrate each

individual’s birthday differently according to their likes and dislikes. Each resident receives a gift and a

homemade cake from our head chef Edmundo. Staff gather round to sing Happy Birthday and celebrate their

special day.

Our Brand New Forget Me Not Memorial Garden:

Our Forget Me Not Garden is in the process of being put together and painted etc. Our activity staff Chloe thought it would be a nice idea for us to have a little memorial garden for all of the loved ones we have lost here at Arbour Court. Somewhere peaceful where we can pay our respects if we want to. A close family friend of Chloe’s has designed and painted the area. It is just needing to be put together now.

PICTURED BELOW…

Here at Arbour Court we encourage some of our residents to enjoy days out to various places including; Buxton, the local park, Etherow Park, Coffee Shops, Stockport Town Centre and Wyevale Garden Centre. Days out are important for our residents as it gives them a sense of purpose for everyday life. Please let Joe or Chloe know if you have any suggestions.

like new technology equipment or sensory items.
