IM BACK!! I arrived back in Kansas on Saturday, March 31 st just in time to attend my fam- ilys Easter dinner. It was great to get back home!! I would be remiss if I did not thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for my 1200 mile bicycle journey from Los Angeles, California to Houston, Texas. As many of you might recall, I rode my bike a couple years ago from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine. That was a 3500 mile journey which I did with my friend, David Sav- ing. We raised money for his organiza- tion which is called Leadachild. We had such a great time that we decided to go across the southern United States but this time we are doing it in two seg- ments. We were also joined on this trip with friend and high school classmate, Greg Loveless. The three of us again raised money for Leadachild. Next year we plan to resume the trip around the first of March. As an incentive to re- sume the trip, we actually left our bicy- cles in Houston at a friends house!! (Fortunately each of us own another bi- cycle so we will be able to do some train- ing between now and then.) Jerry, our resident of the month resides in our

Meadowlark Neighborhood. She was born and

raised in Stanley, KS. She graduated from Stanley

Rural High School and met her husband in Olathe.

Jerry always said she would never marry a farmer,

but after they were married, they became dairy

farmers for many years. They lived on the farm for

over twenty years before moving to Lenexa.

Jerry and her husband loved to travel. They spent

many years travelling and visited all but three

states in the northeast. She especially enjoyed

beautiful Hawaii.

As a three year old, Jerry’s father taught her to

dance by putting her on top of his feet dancing to

everything. Jerry still loves to sing and dance.

Jerry has three daughters, two grandchildren and

two beautiful great-grandchildren.

Jerry says, “WRC is a wonderful place to live and

the people are marvelous, and all these “kids” are

so willing to help you”.

Our Employee of the Month for April is Isaac Wil-

liams III. Isaac is a C.N.A. in our Meadowlark

Neighborhood. Isaac was born in Chicago, IL and

lived there until he was twelve years old. He moved

to Emporia with his family and graduated from

Emporia High School in 1999. Isaac attended Flint

Hills Technical College and graduated with a

graphics arts degree.

Isaac and his wife Sherri live in Wellsville. Sherri is

an RN and they have seven children and six grand-

children. All six grandchildren keep them very

busy.

His many hobbies include smoking meat, printing

designs, and camping with his family. College bas-

ketball and football are his favorite sports.

Isaac enjoys working here at Wellsville Retirement

Community and loves the family setting. He says,

“We make sure we give the residents a family set-

ting and we take care of our residents like they are

our family.”
