Easter Crafts Remember that the Easter Season lasts for 40 days so it's good to keep the crafts on display for a while, or even spread out the craft time over a few days.

How to make the Easter Lilies 1. Trace your hand on coloured paper if you have some, or colour in after you trace

your hand.

2. Cut out your hand shape and bend around until the thumb side overlaps the little

finger side leaving a small hole at the base of the hand

3. Curl the fingers/thumb outward to form the petals.

4. Use a pipe cleaner or popsicle stick inserted in the hole to form the stem. Make and

attach leaves if you like.

5. If everyone makes one, you will have a lovely Easter bouquet for your table.

You can talk about how flowers are a symbol of new birth and Jesus' resurrection.

How to make the Easter Bunny Ears headband 1. Cut out bunny-ear shapes using white and pink construction paper. Cut two white

and two pink, the pink being slightly smaller.

2. Glue the pink ears onto the white ears.

3. Glue the ears onto a long strip of construction paper, measure to fit your child's head, and staple the ends together to form a headband. Draw or add eyes and nose.

How to prepare the Story Easter Bread before you eat it! You will need: a slice of bread; margarine or butter; chocolate broken into chunks; jam; sunflower seeds (or something else that is edible and leaf-shaped); dark food colouring; cheese cut up into small chunks; butter knives. Put on to your slice of bread a series of edible objects that link to the Holy Week stories. 1. Lightly spread butter or margarine on to your bread so the objects stick. 2. Arrange bits of chocolate into the shape of the donkey from Palm Sunday and

then put next to it sunflower seeds (or something green and edible) to represent the palm leaves.

3. Drop some dark food colouring on to the bread like footsteps to remind you of how Jesus washed his disciples’ dirty feet.

4. Spread and shape a small blob of jam into the cup of wine that they drank at the last meal and beside it put two chunks of cheese to represent the bread they shared.

5. Use some of the crust from the slice of bread to make a small cross and then beside it cut a hole and use the cut-out piece as the stone that was rolled away from the empty tomb.

As you eat, talk about the stories of Jesus during the week before Easter and how he loved his friends so much.
