5Our Internal Goals

• Proof of Concept for USC

• Content development process

• Push UI design & UX experience

• MOOC pedagogical design

• Establish workflow processes

• Evaluate delivery platform

• Develop design templates that could feed back to USC (Bb)

• Estimate efforts for future planning

• Promote Blended Learning within USC with course offering

6Why Blended Learning

• Promote Blended Learning within USC via the course offering

• Build staff capacity and make a comprehensive statement about what blended learning is at USC

• Use the resources created and curated for face-to-face workshops

• Give members of the USC community access to the core concepts for Blended Learning

7Platform – Coursesites Rationale

• We are a Bb “shop”

• Time constraints

• Take back what we learn to USC

• Existing knowledge

But for some of the things we wanted to do, this would be a challenge to achieve in coursesites!

Our Assumptions/Ideas

• Scrolling IS NOT bad

• Visual design IS important

• Use the tab metaphor to deliver our learning design pattern – watch | read | reflect | dig deeper

• Use “call to action” elements and icons to emphasise important items and provide visual cues for related content.

• Deliver a more “modern” user interface that reflects the increased expectations from users.

From a UI perspective, our course will…

• Be visually appealing

• Have content “grouped” and presented in a logical and intuitive flow

• Have visual clues – icons/alerts/notifications

• Use a single page model – 3 topics per module/5 content areas per topic

• Have consistent/repeatable element “patterns”

• Single Page Metaphor

• 6 Modules

• 3 Topics per Module

• Start – Watch – Read – Reflect – Dig DeeperLearning Design Pattern

• Chunking content with the use of “tabs” (vertical/horizontal)

• 1 Badge task per module

• Effort 3-4 hours
