IN 2018 WE RAISED

$1,045,567 MCHF is proud of the great work being done in our community. Funds raised include grants, interest on investments, events and general donations. THE BUSINESS OF GIVING BACK Renken Farms Harvest Fest Proceeds from the annual Harvest Fest at Renken Farms in The Dalles hosted by Greg & Kim Johnson totaled $12,984 benefit-ting the Great ‘n Small Fund. SUPPORT FROM OUR COMMUNITY The Dalles High School In 2018 The Dalles High School Leadership Class planned a school-wide fundraiser to benefit the Celilo Cancer Center Fund. Their efforts brought in $1,437 to help local cancer patients. Ft. Dalles Rodeo Association

Over the last nine years, the Fort Dalles Rodeo has generously donated $35,600 for the Breast Health for Strong Families Program. This important program provides free screening mammograms as well as breast health education and outreach in the communities we serve.

WHO WE ARE Established in 1983, the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation (MCHF) strives to leverage donations from our generous community members to work towards a common goal: building a healthy community. We raise money through donations in memory of loved ones, gifts from grateful patients, donations from community members, MCMC’s employee giving program, special appeals, donations of stock, grants, and events.

OUR MISSION Work together with and provide financial support to Mid-Columbia Medical Center in order to provide access to quality healthcare for our community.

Through the Reach Out & Read Fund MCHF was able to provide nearly 1,685 age and culturally appropriate books for children attending Well Child exams at MCMC’s Outpatient Clinics.

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS

RANDY ROOD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS In memory of Randy Rood, this scholarship is awarded annually. In 2018 54 students received a total of $119,900.

Rivermark Community Credit Union provided a three year grant supporting the purchase of books for the Reach Out & Read Program.

Randy Rood Memorial Scholarship recipient Kaitlyn Delco is attending Columbia Gorge Community College. Kaitlyn is working towards a degree in Fire Science with the goal of becoming a firefighter.

FOR OUR PATIENTS

Every year the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation uses gifts from our donors to directly benefit our patients at MCMC’s hospital & clinics.

Through the Cardiac Rehabilitation Fund we were able to provide 33 patients a total of $4,644 in assistance ensuring that they were able to access the full benefits of the Cardiac Rehab program. $39,781 in assistance was provided to patients of Celilo Cancer Center while 36 patients received free wigs. From the Visiting Health Patient Assistance Fund we provided over $2,250 in assistance to 49 home-bound patients. In 2018 we provided 955 gas cards to help patients get to and from appointments at MCMC, Water’s Edge & our outpatient clinics.

WASCO LODGE MASONICSCHOLARSHIPS Funded by the local Wasco County chapter of the Mason’s, three students were awarded $2,000 each for this scholarship in 2018. NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS Nursing scholarships offered by MCHF are in memory of Evelyn Kaser, Lorna & Joseph Halliday and in honor of retired board member & nurse Pam Clausen. MCHF awarded 11 nursing students a total of $10,350 in 2018. An additional $14,000 in scholarships was awarded to 15 local students.

FOR OUR COMMUNITY

The Mid-Columbia Health Foundation supports projects and programs working to improve the health of our community. Through our Area of Greatest Need Grant we contributed over $12,000 to a wide variety of organizations throughout the Columbia River Gorge.

The Area of Greatest Need Grant funded the Cribs for Kids project at Columbia Gorge Pregnancy Resource Centers in the amount of $5,000. Cribs for Kids is part of the safe sleep initiative which provides cribs for infants to families in need. We funded the purchase of a three-door refrigerator totaling $3,398 for the Windy River Gleaners, enabling them to accept, store and disburse more fresh produce than ever. Dry Hollow Elementary PTA was awarded $2,691 allowing them to install two new hydration stations at their school. The Dalles Farmers’ Market received $2,000 for the SNAP Match Program which increases the number of vouchers our food insecure community members are given to use at the seasonal farmers’ market.

TRADITION OF COMPASSION PHILANTHROPY AWARDS Created to honor the businesses, organizations and people that make this community great. Urness Motors, Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation TOURNAMENT OF TRADITION GOLF BENEFIT 120 golfers and 73 volunteers helped to raise over $18,000 for the Bridge to the Future Campaign. FESTIVAL OF TREES Raising a combined total of just over $37,000 for the Celilo Cancer Center Fund and Bridge to the Future Campaign; Festival of Trees is the annual kick-off to the holiday season.
