Tomorrow’s Leaders BOARD OF EDUCATION Announces a Vacancy for the Position of Superintendent of Schools ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY The Board of Education of the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District, located in Honeoye Falls, New York, is seeking a highly qualified educational leader to fill the position of Superintendent of Schools. The vacancy is due to the retirement of Dr. Michelle Kavanaugh, after 7 years of outstanding leadership. The search process will be conducted over the next few months with the successful candidate beginning employment as early as January 2, 2013. Dr. Vincent J. Coppola, Search Consultant for the Western New York Educational Service Council, is assisting the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board in the selection process. This consultant will carry out the task of screening applicants and recommending to the Board a group of final candidates. The Board will have access to and review all the candidates who apply. Candidates must not contact members of the Board of Education directly. The Board will make all decisions concerning the selection process, the evaluation of candidates, those to be interviewed and the final appointment. First interviews, with the Honeoye Falls-Lima Board of Education, are tentatively planned for November 28 and 29, 2012. A second round of interviews with the Board of Education will be held December 3, 4 and 5, 2012. During the second round, three finalists will be invited to spend the entire day and evening in the District to tour the schools, meet the staff, and be interviewed by both the Board of Education and a focus group of individuals representing teachers, administrators, support staff, students, parents, and the community. Interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to submit letters of interest, academic transcripts, resumes, completed application forms, professional credentials, and/or appropriate letters of reference to Dr. Coppola at the address below. Candidates should include a copy of their New York State School District Administrator Certificate. Current letters of reference from the two most recent employers as well as other letters of reference should be included in the professional credentials portfolio. If a candidate does not have current professional credentials on file with a university placement office, the candidate must still submit the required aforementioned documentation. THE COMMUNITY

The Honeoye Falls-Lima School District comprises 74 square miles across nine towns in three counties: Monroe County (Mendon, Henrietta, and Rush), Livingston County (Avon, Lima, and Livonia), and Ontario County (Victor, West Bloomfield, and Richmond). The District lies within a rolling countryside amid a mix of horse farms, spacious modern homes, and historic town dwellings with a population of approximately 10,500. Our community is economically diverse and embodies a particularly family-oriented atmosphere.

The HF-L community is located 13 miles from Rochester, New York, the State’s third-largest city and a metropolitan area of approximately one million people. The Rochester area is home to many high tech and optics research and manufacturing firms including Xerox Corporation, Bausch & Lomb, and Paychex.

Cultural resources and opportunities include the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Rochester Broadway Theatre League, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Geva Theatre, and the world renowned photographic collections housed in the George Eastman House. Lake Ontario offers boating and swimming activities along with numerous parks in the area, including Mendon Ponds Park, the largest Monroe County Park and a National Natural Historic Landmark, which is just minutes away.

Several colleges and universities are located in the area, including the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, St. John Fisher College, SUNY Colleges at Brockport and Geneseo, Nazareth College, Roberts Wesleyan College, Monroe Community College, Genesee Community College.

Excellent medical facilities are available at Strong Memorial, Rochester General, Highland, and Park Ridge Hospitals.

The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District was established in 1969 through a merger of the neighboring Honeoye Falls and Lima school districts. HF-L serves a student population of approximately 2,500. Our District includes four school buildings located on two separate sites: Lima Primary (K-1), Manor Elementary (2-5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12). Three of the District’s four school buildings are located in Honeoye Falls and Lima Primary School is located in the Village of Lima, approximately three miles from the main campus. HF-L is the heart of our community with community members highly active in our schools.
