CAREER HISTORY I negotiated a departure from Westpac (via redundancy) at the end of December 2015 and I’m currently investigating FinTech startup and consulting opportunities. WESTPAC BANKING CORPORATION – HEAD OF COMPLIANCE, GROUP SERVICES 2012 to December 2015 I led the transformation of the Compliance function at Westpac. This included the development and implementation of new frameworks, standards, processes and software. This also included the deployment of compliance plans (which document regulatory obligations and controls) globally, across 128 divisions of the bank. At the conclusion of the transformation I took over the management of Compliance for the Group Services and Core divisions (Technology, Operations, Finance and H.R). These divisions account for around 12,000 employees. I was responsible for breach identification, determination and regulator reporting. I also led business programs to improve regulatory compliance and respond to regulatory change. This work provided me with the valuable experience of first fixing, then transforming and ultimately running the Compliance business unit.

 I  have  work  closely  with  very  senior  management  (Group  Executive  level)  and  have  built  solid  and  sustainable  relationships  with  the  major  Australian  Banking  Regulators.      WESTPAC  BANKING  CORPORATION  –  PROGRAM  DIRECTOR,  BANK  OF  MELBOURNE  

2011  to  2012  Bank  of  Melbourne  was  launched  in  mid-­‐‑2011  as  a  bold  initiative  to  capture  a  greater  share  of  the  banking  market  in  the  state  of  Victoria.    I  led  9  separate  workstreams  in  launching  Bank  of  Melbourne,  the  highlights  being:    

-   Leading  product  development  and  pricing,  which  included  the  re-­‐‑brand  and  launch  of  220  banking  products.    

-   Implementing  an  innovative,  loyalty  based  pricing  structure,  known  as  Relationship  Pricing,  for  affluent  customers.    

-   Leading  the  financial  markets  and  international  payments  re-­‐‑branding.    

-   Building  relationships  with  the  State  Government  of  Victoria  and  collaborating  with  the  Government  on  a  number  of  initiatives  to  promote  financial  literacy.    

-   Developing  and  overseeing  project  governance  and  project  management  practices  for  all  of  the  above.    

 WESTPAC  BANKING  CORPORATION  –  PROGRAM  DIRECTOR,  GROUP  OPERATIONS  

2007  to  2011  Over  a  4  year  period  I  led  multiple  programs  in  the  Group  Operations  division  of  Westpac.  My  major  achievements  included:    

-   Being  a  core  member  of  the  team  to  determine  the  merger  integration  strategy  for  Westpac’s  acquisition  of  St  George  Bank.  I  also  managed  a  portfolio  of  projects  as  part  of  the  merger  integration.    

-   Conceiving,  designing  and  leading  the  implementation  of  an  innovative  software  system  to  automate  operational  processes  to  integrate  Westpac  and  St  George  systems  post-­‐‑merger.  As  part  of  this  work  I  was  one  of  the  first  to  utilise  Agile  project  methodologies  at  Westpac.  

-   Leading  the  Secured  Lending  Transformation  Program,  with  the  aim  of  improving  the  customer  experience  and  profitability  of  the  mortgage  portfolio,  across  Westpac,  St  George,  BankSA  and  RAMS.  As  part  of  this  work  we  utilised  Customer  Centric  Design  (CCD)  techniques.    I  was  one  of  the  first  adopters  of  CCD  at  the  bank.    

-   Leading  the  establishment  and  initial  phases  (governance,  funding  and  mobilisation)  of  Operations  offshoring  programs  which  transferred  a  significant  number  of  banking  activities  to  India  and  the  Philippines.  

SYMITAL  SOFTWARE  AND  CONSULTING  –  CO-­‐FOUNDER  AND  MANAGING  PARTNER  

2002  to  2007  I  was  a  founder  and  managed  the  practice  of  Symital,  a  software  and  consulting  firm.    In  addition  to  leading  a  team  of  software  professionals,  I  managed  all  consulting  projects  and  software  development  projects.  The  highlights  included:

-   Developing  systems  and  processes  for  Greenway  Capital,  a  start-­‐‑up  asset  manager.  I  worked  with  the  senior  leadership  team  to  design  a  new  asset  class  (equity  mortgages),  designing  product  features,  positioning  in  the  marketplace  and  launch.    

-   Developing  mortgage  origination  systems  for  mortgage  managers  and  brokers.    

-   Developing  retail  mystery  shopping  software  for  Creative  Field  Marketing,  a  Clemenger  BBDO  company.  Clients  included  Optus,  Westfield,  SONY,  Motorola  and  Metcash.    

-   Managing  a  project  in  the  transport  and  logistics  sector  for  CHEP/Brambles.    

-   Establishing  the  firm’s  offshore  software  development  operations  in  Indonesia  and  Vietnam  and  establishing  the  firm’s  governance  practices  and  software  development  methodologies,  including  Agile  methodologies.    

BANKING  CONSULTANT,  LONDON,  UK  –  DEUTSCHE  BANK,  ABN  AMRO  AND  HSBC  1997  to  2002  Working  with  Mathias  &  Co,  a  New  York  consultancy,  I  led  projects  at  major  global  banks.  Most  of  my  work  was  carried  out  in  institutional  and  business  banking.  The  highlights  included:

-   Conceiving,  designing  and  deploying  a  global  cash  management  system  for  Deutsche  Bank.    

-   Project  Manager  for  Treasury,  Money  Markets  and  Fixed  Income  divisions  of  a  global  account  planning  and  sales  management  system  at  ABN  AMRO.    

-   Team  Leader  of  the  deployment  of  a  client  management  software  system  for  the  Global  Corporate  and  Investment  Banking  division  of  HSBC.      

-   Training  Institutional  Relationship  Managers  in  Singapore,  Hong  Kong,  Malaysia  and  Australia  for  HSBC.    

 My  employment  history  prior  to  1997  is  gladly  available  upon  request.      

EDUCATION     §   Bachelor  of  Science  (BSc),  Computer  Science.  Graduated  1994,  Macquarie  University.

ABOUT  ME     §   I  am  married  with  two  lovely  school  aged  children.    

§   My  family  are  keen  skiers  and  we  enjoy  ski  holidays  together.    

§   I  am  passionate  about  music.  I  play  guitar  in  a  band  called  Kim  Killspeed  and  utilise  my  commercial  acumen  to  manage  the  band  and  promote  live  music  events.
