1964 Foundation of the Carinthian University Association, still today the university’s sponsor association.

1970 The Federal Act on the Foundation of the College of Educational Sciences in Klagenfurt is adopted by parliament

1973 Start of regular teaching operations (diploma, teaching certificate and doctoral studies)

1975 University’s name changed to University for Educational Sciences

1981-… Partnership agreements with foreign universities

1993 The name of the University is changed to Universität Klagenfurt; at the same time, a Faculty of Cultural Studies and a Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Informatics are set up

2004 Appellation extended to Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt

2007 The existing Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Informatics divided into the Faculty of Management and Economics and the Faculty of Technical Sciences.

70,926,088 Euros total budgetThe main share of revenue (75.5 %) continues to be provided to the AAU by the federal level through performance agreements and tuition fee compensation payments, 19.3 % of the revenue stems from third party funding.75 % of the revenue flows into staff expenditure.
