The Church of All Hallows The major part of the present church was built around 1240. Its tower was added in the fourteenth century and the parapet spire in the fifteenth. Comprehensive restoration was carried out in the 1860s by Prebendary Francis Hingeston-Randolph who was Ringmore's parish priest for fifty years. During this restoration the remarkable mediaeval painting on the chancel arch was uncovered and the walls of the nave were partially lined with decorative tin plate. The tin plate eventually caused' serious condensation and in 1961 a faculty was granted for its removal and for the application of a pink render to the walls. The church structure is maintained in good working condition, but the ravages of time and weather necessitate continual maintenance and investment. ln 2003 a millennium clock was installed in the tower and more recently an electronic hymnal was purchased. This provides music when no organist is available. The Brevington organ, however, is maintained in good working order and is played regularly. We would like to thank the Flower Arrangers and everyone who has supported the Flower Festival. A thank you also goes to those who have acted as Stewards at the Church. We are grateful and thank everyone who has provided and helped to serve refreshments in the W. I Hall. Special thanks to the Otter Garden Centre for providihg some plants and Holywell Stores who always support local events. Prayer together: We thankyou, heavenlyFather, for the beautiful display of flowers inthis place, and for all the loving work whichhas made it, yours in creation and thearrangers in their skills. We praise you for allthe life seen in flower gardens, singing birdsand wild creatures, busy insects, beesgathering nectar, the myriad organisms in thesoil. May we and all your creatures findpeace and refreshment in your gloriouscreation. And may we all one day come to theHeavenly Garden, where we shall be at homewith you. We rsk this in the name of ourSaviour, Jesus Christ, who redeemed thewhole creation. Amen.

Other Prayers & As Jesus taught us, so we pray:All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed bethy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done;on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day ourdaily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, aswe forgive those who trespass against us. Andlead us not into temptation; but deliver us fromevil. For thine is the kingdom, the power andthe glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

O LORD My GODI when I in awesome wonderConsider all the works Thy hand hath made,I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

Then sings my soul, rny Saviour God to Thee,Ifow great Thou art! How great Thou ort! Then sings my soul, my Swiour God, to Thee,How great Thou art! How grcat Thou art!

When through the woods and forest glades I wanderAnd hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur,And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;

And when I think that God His Son not sparingSent Him to die-I scarce can take it in.That on the cross my burden gladly bearing,He bled and died to take away my sin:

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamationAnd take me home-whatjoy shall fill my heart! Then shall I bow in humble adorationAnd there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art!

GOSPEL CHOIR

PRAISE TO THE LORD, THE ALMIGIITY,the King of creation!O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health andsalvation! All ye who hear, Brothers and sisters, draw near,Praise Him in glad adoration.

Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work anddefend thee;Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee:Ponder anew What the Almighty can do,Who with His love doth befriend thee.

Praise to the Lord, who doth nourish thy life andrestore thee,Fitting thee well for the tasks that are ever before thee,Then to thy need He like a mother doth speed,Spreading the wings of grace o'er thee.

Praise to the Lord, who when tempests their warfareare waging,Who, when the elements madly around thee are raging,Biddeth them cease, Turneth their fury to peace,Whirlwinds and waters assuaging.

Praise to the Lord, who, when darkness of sin isabounding,Who, when the godless do hiumplq all virtueconfounding,Sheddeth His light, Chaseth the horrors of night,Saints with His mercy surrounding.

Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore Him!All that hath life and breath, come now with praisesbefore Him!Let the AmenSound from His people again:Gladly for aye we adore Him.

Opening Words from the prophet Hosea:Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on toacknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, hewill appear; he will come to us like the winterrains like the spring rains that water the earth.

Responses from Matthew's Gospel:Consider the lilies of the field, how they growThey toil not neither do they spinYet even Solomon in all his gloryWas not arrayed like one of these.

O WORSHIP THE LORD in the beauty of holiness,Bow down before Him, His glory proclaim; With gold of obediense and incense of lowliness,Kneel and adore Him; the Lord is His name.

Low at His feet lay thy burden of carefulness,High on His heart He will bear it for thee,Comfort thy sorrows, and answer thy prayerfulness,Guiding thy steps as may best for thee be.

Fear not to enter His courts in the slendernessOf the poor wealth thou wouldst reckon as thine;Truth in its beauty, and love in its tenderness,These are the offerings to lay on His shrine.

These, though we bring them in trembling andfearfulness,He will accept for the name that is dear;Mornings ofjoy give for evenings of tearfulness,Trust for our trembling, and hope for our fear.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,Bow down before Him, His glory proclaim; With gold of obedience and incense of lowliness,Kneel and adore Him: the Lord is His name.

Ringmore Flower Festival 2013

Ringmore,s All Hallows church was ablaze with colour for the village's Flower Festival last

weekend. The three-day event attracted record numbers in the sunshine and raised

valuable funds for repairs to the church, and for the Women's lnstitute'

Every corner of the church was filled with flowers, each arrangement inspired by the themeof 'Celebration'.

churchwarden phill Errett said: "The Flower Festival was a tremendous success andshowed Ringmore at its very best. Lots of people participated in many different ways andthe proceeds exceeded all our expectations.

The flower arrangements were produced not only by individuals but also by the manyvillage organisations. Flower arranging was co-ordinated by Rosemary Wilson and JinnyMcCabe who were always on hand to offer advice and encouragement. The imaginativeand beautiful arrangements ranged from the simple to the sumptuous and were all stylishand inspiring.

Visitors were welcomed to the church by festive, handmade bunting over the gate, vibrantpot plants and bright clusters of fiowers in shoes and boots iining the path. The shoes anciboots had been [lanted up by the parish children, coordinated by Alice Thornton andRosemary Wilson.

Refreshments were served by members of the Ringmore Women's lnstitute throughout theweekend at the WI Hail. Phill Errett said: 'The U'l!'s vviiling band of helpei-s seru'ed deliciouscakes, ploughman's lunches and cream teas which were thoroughly enioyed by all.' Aplant stall outside the church also did brisk business.

Artwork produced by members of Ringmore's Art Group was on display inside the church,attr-acting comment! about its high standard. The group, led by adist and R.ingmoreresidentludith Woodings, has been running for two years and meets weekly. Art groupmember, Hilary Vanstone, whose work was on display said: "lt's been lovely coming toJudith's classes. She has taught us so much'"

On Sunday evening a Celebration Service brought the festival to a close. Phill Errettadded: "The church was once again packed". John Elliott took the special Service inwhich we praised God who created all things, including the wondrous natural beauty whichsurrounds us. The Modbury Gospel singers, led by Jo Highley, were present and sangthree short gospel songs whlch were full of vibrancy. It was a truly wonderful weekend offlowers, ,rlic,'food and plants, which, thanks to a vast band of helpers, enabled all toenjoy the event. As one visitor said "Absolutely Blooming Marvellous"
