How long have you been volunteering at
Greenhill? 2 and a half years
Any pets at home? Yes, we have four
dogs (Maizy, Max, Phoenix and Faedra)
and two cats (Buddy and Bubby). Oh and our chicken, Henry, and a big aquarium of fish. Maizy, Max, Buddy, and Bubby are all Greenhill grads.
What food would you take with you to a deserted is-land? Probably a supply of
Burgerville cheeseburgers.
If you could choose to do anything for a day what would it be? Go for a hike
with one of the dogs, then sit and read for the rest of the day.
If you could share a dinner with some-one, who would it be? My grandmother
Maureen. She was a huge influence in my life and so fun. I'd love one more dinner with her.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Becoming a proficient positive reinforce-ment dog trainer. I found my passion and have some skill - but there's always more to learn!
Meet Leslie Finlay and her family, our fosters of the month for Sep-tember! Leslie and her family have been fosters for a little over a year now and say, “Fostering is an
opportunity for our family to work to-gether toward a shared goal. There is nothing more fun to do as a family than sit and watch kittens play!”
We asked Leslie what her and her fami-ly’s most memorable foster experience was and she said, “Recently, we fostered a single kitten who was underweight, had one leg that didn't work, and was very timid. It was so satisfying to watch her gain weight, become socialized and eventually start to run and play! She was the most affectionate kitten, with great big eyes always looking up at us ador-
ingly. It was nearly impossible not to adopt her ourselves!”
When Leslie and her family are not fos-tering and playing with adorable kittens, Leslie works at Relief Nursery, a child abuse and neglect prevention organiza-tion, her husband Jake is a teacher and both of her daughters are students.
Leslie says that her favorite part of fos-tering is, “Experiencing the transition from kittens being fearful and unsure to becoming playful, assertive and ener-getic. There is nothing more satisfying than a kitten finally learning to latch onto a bottle and drink successfully. My 15 year old and I have spent hours and hours together, each with a kitten and a bottle in hand, laughing hysterically at the antics of the kittens! The foster care department is amazingly supportive and helpful and fostering is an awesome way to help as well as work together as a family!”

am paid handsomely in doggy smiles and kiss-es.” Judy grew up in Long Beach, California, where she worked for a urology clinic in Long Beach for 34 years. She then spent ten years working in Dallas, Tex-as, and upon retiring moved to Eugene in 2009 with her husband and their two 13-year-old cats. She says her only regret is that she did not volunteer with Greenhill sooner! In their free time, Judy and her husband enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking. Judy also loves reading, listening to opera, sewing, stud-ying Spanish, and doing needle work.
Meet Judy - our Volun-teer of the Month for Sep-tember! Judy first started volunteering at Greenhill in April of 2014 and has contributed almost 1,500 hours of service!! If she’s not busy cleaning kennels or walking dogs, she is assisting with the dog vid-eo team or facilitating mentor shifts with new dog walkers. Judy has been quite the best friend to many furry friends here at Greenhill over the years and we are so grateful for all her positivity and sup-port! Judy works with our dogs in a variety of ways, both at our shelter and offsite! She cleans ken-nels, walks dogs, handles dogs for the Greenhill dog video team, completes shadow shifts with new
dog walkers, and handles adoptable dogs at special events. In the past, she has also led dog walker trainings and taken dogs to visit with seniors at re-tirement communities. Judy says she loves “being part of a communi-ty that is committed to serving homeless pets in a kind and compassionate manner.” The best part? “I
The animals need people to foster them, and the
shelters need the support
of the community...

You found a stray dog? Here’s what to do:
“I was out for a drive with my grandson looking
at homes when we saw the Greenhill sign and
decided to stop in to see what animals you had.
I wasn't in the market for a new dog...you know
how that goes. One look at Queenie's cute face
and I was smitten. She made herself at
home...tail wagging all the time. She loves it
when I throw toys across the room for her to
fetch. She loves it here in the Jasper road area
and she loves going on walks and is good on
leash. She had a vet exam the day after we
adopted her and the vet said she weighed 11
pounds which is a good weight for her. I think
Greenhill had done some dental work on her.
She only has 3 teeth left so only soft food for
her.”
“Zaboo is doing really well! We have
another cat and they seem to co-
habitate, but are not quite best friends
yet. We are excited to have Zaboo be-
cause he is so energetic and playful.
Our other cat is a bit older and needs
some encouragement. Greenhill is
amazing and everyone is so nice and
friendly! Thanks everyone!”
“Marley is great!! She is the perfect dog. She
loves people, dogs, cats, squeaky
toys...everything. We feel so blessed to have
gotten her. We couldn't ask for a better dog.
She is so well behaved we sometimes can't be-
lieve it. She's been to the vet and been given a
clean bill of health. She did think she might be a
little overweight but we take her on two 30 mi-
nute walks a day which is slimming her down.
She loves her squeaky toys - she doesn't fetch
but loves to throw them around and squeak them
like crazy. And she talks to us!”
“Selena renamed Minnie is a huge
cuddler! She likes to eat all the
time. She's pottying outside. She is
good with our 11 year old choco-
late lab and sleeps with our teen
age kitten. She is good with our
four kids. We are going to Pet
Smart for obedience. We're really,
really glad we went to Greenhill!”
“Draco is doing great
- settled in very well.
Vet check was good. I
love having him
around plus he likes
to cuddle too!”
