”OK. Once I get some content from you, I can start on the design.”
” How about you start designing first and then I’ll fill it in with content.”
” But I can’t create a design until I have some content.”

August 2016 · Page 16 – Wireless Power www.we-online.com
Costs?What does this technology cost?
(customer view!)
Focus of WPC? Smartphones? Put activities in the applications
beyond smartphones into focus!
Handling?(exact placement) not yet optimal,
will improve with resonance
expansion but not before 2017
Different standards?Lack of single market presence
dampens customer enthusiasm!
Efficiency?Is 83% really efficient?
Where has the rest of the
energy gone?
Good news! In 2015, there was a big push for QI and wireless power from Samsung and IKEA.
Why is the implementation of wireless power stagnating?

The breakthrough of the video recorder (VHS)Video Home System
All system were in competition until VHS, thanks to a clever licensing policy by JVC, became a household name.
Also, Video libraries and the adult film industry adopted VHS early on.

The breakthrough of the CD
In the begining, Sony and Philips were in competition...
Then, they both adopted the same standard and development process
The advantages for the end customers were: highly-dynamic
noise-free, jitter-free
compact size
dust and scratch resistant
no need to turn CD for full-length play

Reasons for delays and deviations of forecasts
Smartphones: Apple does not have the feature (and nobody knows what they are planning)
Not yet integrated in all Phones/Tablets (mostly only in high-end devices)
Development of infrastructure – Restaurants, public spaces (chicken and egg problem)
Higher power level (> 5 W) coming late (2016)
War of standards led to investors holding fire and becoming uncertain
Promotion and familiarity among the wider population is still not sufficient
