Women's Director of Coaching Update

Fast Football FactsFootball players run an average of six milesduring every game. Martinho Eduardo Orige of Brazil holds theworld record for juggling a soccer ball non-stop for 19 hours and 30 minutes.There are 32 panels on a traditional soccerball, one for each country in Europe.

Our Premier League team is currently sitting in 3rd place.After a poor start to the season, we've been working hardand have bounced back winning our last three games. The City 1 side has been working closely with our PremierLeague side and have improved greatly since the beginningof preseason. Coached by Michael Fahey & assisted by SeanJenkins, the side is sitting in 3rd spot, and are withintouching distance of first place.Our City 4 side, coached by Rodo Barahona, is currentlysitting in 7th place with 3 wins and 2 losses. They have atleast 1 game in hand on every team, so a coupe of wins willput them back into the top 4.Our City 5 team has started the season brilliantly. Coachedby Faye Naylor, they have lost just two games and are sittingin third spot. Just 3 points separates them from top spot.

I'm Anthony Costa, current coach of the BWPL team and Women'sDirector of Coaching (DOC) at Annerley. My role is to support all ofour women’s teams and in particular, the coaches. We are verylucky at Annerley to have some very experienced and dedicatedcoaches coaching our women’s teams.

Last week showed everyone in the comp what we aremade of. With our top team winning 2-0 and our ReserveGrade putting on a show to win 10-1. The boys are finally understanding my system and I mustsay, it certainly helps having players back from injuriesand suspensions. The newly promoted to Reserve Grade,City One boys have shown the strength we have as a clubhere at Annerley.

With players such as Cameron Carney, Cameron Osbourne, Alex Winters andSam Williams getting stronger and stronger every week for us. This week showsa real test against ladder leaders North Pine who have the best defence in thecompetition. I know our boys are certainly up to the challenge with our newlyfound confidence. If we once again play to our potential, then the sky is thelimit.GO ANNERLEY.

Previous Men's Results...The Capital 1 & Reserves had a successful away trip to Brisbane Force, takinghome the points. Capital 1 winning 2-0 and the Reserves winning 10-1. The City1 and 2 teams both had tough nights, losing 3-1 to Olympic and going down 4-2to Samford. City 3 had a tough game against Southside Eagles, butunfortunately lost 3-1. The City 4 game was postponed.

This Saturday our Women’s Premier League teamplays host to Souths United, in what is sure to be areal battle.

It is pleasing to see the team constantly improvingand every week they are understanding my systemsand structures better and better. As a result we havenow won 3 matches in a row and are sitting in 3rdspot on the ladder. It is important that we continueto improve and push ourselves every week.

Previous Women's Results...Last week our BWPL side beat Toowong 1-0 in what was a very one sided affair. Our city 1 sidestarted slow against an undefeated Ipswich team but a spirited 2nd half by Annerley saw the margindecrease with a final score of 5-3 to Ipswich. City 4 recorded a strong 5-0 win over Pine Rivers, andour City 5 side recorded just their 2nd loss of the season, going down 2-1 away at Mitchelton.

South’s are currently sitting towards the bottom of the ladder, but havecertainly been putting up a good fight. They have caused someheadaches for a number of teams and I'm sure this week they will beout to win. Cheer on the Annerley girls on this week and help uscontinue to climb the table ladder.
