Pastor’s Message for the Month . . .

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

Psalm 107:1

We have been truly blessed these past months at Advent. We have seen young people growing in their faith as they have made either First Communion or Confirmations. We have had wonderful fellowship opportunities with the Women’s Brunch provided by the Men’s Group and the Jazz Concert provided by our Music Director, Mike Dettra. Sunday School has completed for the Spring and will resume again in the fall. We look forward to many of the children being involved in our VBS Program in August. We had a generous outpouring of support on Mother’s Day for the Baby Manna Program in Philadelphia to provide nutritional supplements for needy children. The Stitch Club sold baby items to help contribute to that cause. It was a busy and exciting month. Thanks Be to God. Please see the pictures below in our newsletter. As we move into June we look forward to several baptisms. We will acknowledge in the newsletter and bulletins recent graduates from high school and colleges. Personally, Ruby and I are looking forward to taking a small vacation this month and we give thanks for Advent members Gail Oines and George Henry who will lead worship in my absence on Father’s Day. I trust that you also have experienced blessings in your lives in this past month. We look forward with thanksgiving to God continuing to shower his mercies upon us.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Sorcek

CHRISTIAN CONCERTS

I was asked recently to share information on concerts that are in the area. Karen’s Place, an underground Christian café at the Doylestown Mennonite Church has concerts during the school year on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays. The last concert is on June 3, featuring Constitution & Ninth, a Christian folk rock band. Admission is free, with a donation jar if you so choose and there are refreshments for sale. On Monday’s in August, they start their “Monday Nights in August” series which is held outside on the grounds. For more information, visit their website ([email protected]) or find them on facebook. I will share informati0n on other concerts as I find them. Gail Oines, Worship & Music Chair

WAYS TO GIVE FINANCIALLY

Did you know that there are three ways to give an offering to Advent Lutheran Church. 1. Offering envelope. 2. Simply Giving. This is an automatic deposit from a checking account into Advent Lutheran Church account that occurs every month. There are two different dates during the month to pick from. If you are interested in setting this up or for more information, please contact me at 215-968-2675. 3. On-line giving. This option is with a credit card. Log onto our website: www.adventrichboro.org and click on the “Give Now” button. Thank you for your continued support for our Ministry. Respectfully, Kathryn Urbaniak HAVE YOU REMEMBERED ADVENT IN YOUR WILL Those who have faithfully supported Advent through their regular offerings can also support the church by including it in your will. Gifts can be designated for the endowment fund, mortgage reduction or to support the regular expenses of the church. Remembering your church in your will can help Advent through the difficult economic times. Please speak with a member of the finance or endowment committee or pastor for more information.

JUNE PERSONAL CARE COLLECTION During the month of June Social Ministry will be collecting personal care items to benefit A

Women's Place in Doylestown. All items collected will be assembled during Vacation Bible School in August by the students. Shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, brushes, lotions, powder, etc. would all be greatly appreciated! Thank-you for your continued support throughout the year.

FINANCIAL NOTE With the summer months here we need your continued and regular support. We need to maintain or increase our level of giving to the General Fund and to the Mortgage Fund. Try to worship with us as often as possible in the summer months. If you are going to be away on vacation for an extended period of time, consider mailing your offerings to the church office before you leave for vacation. This will help us maintain adequate cash flow during the lean summer months. And remember while away to worship in a Lutheran or other Christian church in the community where you are staying. Thank you in advance for your continued support of God’s ministry and work through Advent Lutheran Church. May Christ richly bless us as we assist in doing His Kingdom work.
