It's easy with GMail
● Folders– Gmail does not use folders– Outdated concept– People “copy” and “move” an email into perhaps
one or more folders in other systems, this is clearly silly
Labels
● Gmail allows you to label– An email, with one or more labels– Funnily enough a conversation can belong to
several streams of thought....
Creating Labels
● Go to the “cog” symbol - top right hand corner● Then click on “Settings”● Then Labels (2nd from left)
– Scroll down to “Create new label”
– Or …...
Gmail allows us to..
● Create filters and labels– At the same time
● You can read an email then create a rule which says, “for every email from the this person”, attach this “label” or “labels” to it
● Or● For every email containing “blah” in the body, “label”
it with the following label
Confused?

Or we can nest a NEW label under exisiting one
