16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Before this time, certain mencertain men had been especially anointed with the Holy Ghost for specific jobsspecific jobs.

But since JesusJesus came came to die for our sins and to be resurrectedresurrected from the dead in

the PowerPower of the Holy Spirit,

Every believerEvery believer is indwelt by God's Spirit.

" your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,"

To speak what God is sayingGod is saying to His people, in the PowerPower and AnointingAnointing of the Holy Ghost,

is a great blessinggreat blessing.

Both to the speakerspeaker and to the hearershearers.

"your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:"

certain that we know the difference.

In this day, when the churchchurch (every believer) is the body of Jesus Christ,

God pours out His SpiritHis Spirit on every one who believes.

19 And I will shew wonders in Heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

These verses refer to a future eventfuture event described in the Book of Revelation.

The church will be caught upcaught up to be with the Lord, and unbelieversunbelievers will remain here in terrible tribulation.

That time will be followed by Jesus' triumphant Jesus' triumphant returnreturn to rule the earth for 1000 years.

21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.

Shall call on the Name of the Lord.

God didn't sayGod didn't say, "whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord -- and keep the ruleskeep the rules."

-- and get up real early. -- and stay up real late.

-- and dress to impress. -- and perform miracles.

Just put all your faith and hopefaith and hope in Jesus Christ, and call on Godcall on God in the Name of His Son.

Saved from the bondage of sin in this life.

Saved from the torments of a burning

hell in the next.
