The Primary Purpose of Facebook:

• To build strong relationships: With former, new and existing friends, with family and with professional connections

• To meet the people you want to know within your niches – to network in a more effective way.

• To create professional friendships with more depth than a business card can provide

• To maintain contact – stay in touch - in a way that’s comfortable to everyone

• Non-intrusive: Facebook happens at everyone’s speed• Sharing relevant information – personally and

professionally

What’s In A Status Update?Status updates are all about engaging

with your Facebook community – asking questions, sharing relevant content, photos, videos, promoting

others, sharing news, starting conversations and building

relationships.

They are not an opportunity to talk negatively about your ex, about

how much you hate your job, about your latest drinking stint, etc.

Think about your career reputation, your personal brand, your

personality and who you want to engage with. On the next slide, you

will have the opportunity to jot down some ideas on strong status

updates.

Sharing Information and Tagging on Facebook

Facebook makes it simple to share information that is posted with a few clicks. Tagging makes it easy for other people to connect and see that

you’ve promoted them.
