ACN SR1Small rail mounted controller

ACN SR1 is a controller that is designed for embedded and standalone applications. ACN SR1 is a part of the ACN I/O family and is used with the ACN I/O units.

ACN SR1 can be used in combination with ACN RT, ACN CS, and Metso DNA VME controllers.

ACN SR1 is ideal for small size and distrib-uted applications. The small size of the controller and ACN I/O enable the installa-tion of the units in field cabinets.

Key features• Small size• Advanced control features• Fast control cycles, down to 20 ms• No moving parts (fan or hard disk)• One-to-one redundancy capability• 100 Mbit/s Ethernet connections for communica-

tion with other Metso DNA nodes• Removable SD-card

ACN SR1 is to be used with ACN I/O only. There is no support for those field buses and external interfaces that use serial/Ethernet communication. If field buses or external interfaces are needed, then ACN CS or ACN RT controller should be used.

ACN SR1 and dedicated Bus Controller Unit for ACN I/OIn case ACN SR1 is used with a dedicated Bus Controller Unit (IBC), the ACN SR1 only executes a process control application. Bus Controller Unit handles the communication with the ACN I/O units. This configuration enables ACN SR1 to commu-nicate with two Bus Controller Units each with a maximum of 16 ACN I/O units.

ACN SR1 with integrated Bus Controller Unit functionality ACN SR1 process controller functionality and Bus Controller Unit functionality can be integrated into a single unit. This configuration enables ACN SR1 to communicate with a maximum of 16 ACN I/O units, as one ACN I/O group.

Function block diagram

EngineeringThe engineering library of the ACN SR1 provides function blocks for the controls at all levels including basic process control as well as advanced controls such as Fuzzy controls. The Metso DNA Function Block CAD (FbCAD) is used for designing function block diagrams for process control loops and sequences. The function block diagrams are saved in one common database that is located on the Engi-neering Server. A function block diagram is simul-taneously a graphical document of an application, which is loaded in the runtime environment. This ensures that the documentation is always up-to-date.

Architecture ACN SR1 is designed for small size embedded appli-cations and for distributed applications where the number of I/O’s per controller is small. An example of a distributed application with two ACN SR1 controllers is shown beside. ACN  SR1 controllers are installed in a field cabinet with two ACN I/O groups each.ACN SR1 has a removable SD-card memory that has the parameters that are needed when a node is starting. If a reserve node is taken in use, the SD-card is unplugged and switched to a reserve node.In a typical configuration, the real-time operating system, process controller software, and application are loaded from the Backup Server when the node is starting. An alternative configuration enables booting from the SD-card. The SD-card contains the real-time operating system, process controller software, and application.
