packages he has provided for the Group. All instructions are provided within the file folders

* MISSION PRE-FLIGHT *

1. Before logging in, download all the mission files as called out in the Calendar

mission notice posting. Install the file downloads to your PC, as per the readme.txt

files included.

2. Upon starting FSX, go to the Scenery Library and activate the mission-specific

scenery folder(s).

3. In the Free Flight menu, open "Current Weather - Change".

Click the "Weather themes" button

Highlight "Fair Weather" or “Cold Fronts”, as selected for mission.

Then select "OK".

Turn off all external weather engines (REX, ASI).

4. Prior to logging into the Multiplayer server, log onto the TeamSpeak3 server.

5. CHECK-IN to the Multiplayer server at least 30 minutes before the designated

Take-Off time.

6. Direct Connect to Multiplayer Server 2 at DigitalThemePark.

Using FSX Multiplayer, choose Local Network (LAN),

"Connect Directly" to the "Bravo Server" at 71.83.107.169

(Bravo is set to UTC less 8 Hours.)

7. Once connected, Element Leaders select "Flight Planner" and then "Load".

Navigate to the location where you placed the Mission Folder and

Open the enclosed "Flight Plans" folder.

Select the mission flight plan (Open).

Lastly, select "OK" on the Flight Planner menu.

Do NOT activate any other options on the menu!

Answer "Yes" when asked to move the aircraft.

8. Back on the Multiplayer menu, in the “ATC Name” section, select “Change”.

Enter your 91st BG MISSION ID in the "Tail number" box (maximum of 8

characters, i.e. Lingers2 Oboe-3 Dimple-4 Mutter-1).

9. Back on the Multiplayer menu, in the "Starting location" section select "Change".

If you have loaded the flight plan correctly "RAF Bassingbourn (Stn.121)

should be selected.

If you are flying a B-17G, select your assigned parking space from the list.

If you are flying Escort, change the starting location to Fowlmere (EGMA)

and select your assigned parking there.

10. Join the session and upon entering the cockpit, set the parking brake, open the

windows and remove the control locks. Keep the windows open until just prior to

takeoff.

11. Check the Maintenance Hangar (Shift+7) and complete any maintenance required.

12. Set Fuel per the Mission PDF using the Payload and Fuel Manager (Shift+4).

(The Mission Lead may change fuel loads prior to start).

Load bombs, top up liquids & oxygen, as required.

13. Start the APU; turn on the Batteries and Inverter. Once power to the aircraft is

applied, set the Hydraulic Pump Mode to "Manual", if required, until the pressure

is greater than 200 lbs.

14. Tune the NAV1, NAV2, ADF1, and ADF2 radios per the flight plan, using the

Radios panel (Shift+6).

15. If the Norden Bombsight is installed, activate that option once while on the ground

then return to the cockpit (This prevents 'lag' when activating the sight on the bomb

run).

16. These formulas can be used to calculate time/distance/sight angles using

the standard WinXp or Win7 calculator in "scientific" mode.

(Select View - Scientific)

Time (minutes) = distance (sm)/GS (mph) * 60

Sight Angle = atan ((distance sm * 5280)/altitude)

NOTE: for atan function, press “Inv” then “tan” buttons

Distance (feet) = tan (sight angle) * altitude

17. In preparation for engine start, set the Fuel Valves to "Open", Turbo Dial to "8"

(Element Leads set to “7”) and the Mixture levers to "Auto Rich".

18. Await the order to start engines. Monitor engine start and verify system settings

using the Controls menu (Shift+3). Do not taxi until ordered to do so by your

Element Lead.

19. When each Element Lead gives the order, taxi to the assigned Runway Position and

await the Mission Briefing by the Lead Element Commander.

(1) Form up on runway in respective positions.

(2) Announce when ready to takeoff.

(3) Announce pilot name, Start rolling in 30 second intervals.

(4) Climb to 1000feet on runway heading.

(5) The leader will announce and start making a 180 degree half needle pin turn.

(6) Pilots announce starting turn, in 10 second intervals following leaders turn.

(7) Announce Formed up behind leader, when turn has completed.

(8) Head off to formation race circuit.

SEPARATE COM CHANNELS

USE YOUR CALLSIGN/LEADERS WHISPER

In real missions radio integrity/silence was very important; remember the

enemy was listening. Radio silence was used, except for emergencies:

Our online missions need Radio Silence from the start of forming up on

the runway, until leaving the racetrack in the assigned formation. Also,

maintain RS while approaching the IP, the Target and until turning back

to head home.

Resume RS when approaching the BKY VOR, at the start of landing

procedures.

Radio chatter is allowed between these set parameters.

Remember don’t disclose any vital information that may put us in

jeopardy or in harm’s way. Example: Headings, altitude, airspeed etc.
