Key Frame 1

Scenario: Two friends, Taylor and Sarah, are listening to music and talk to each other about their day.

Cinematography: In this scene an eye level angle is being used in the centre of their conversation so the audience can see the convocation between the two characters. A medium shot is being used to signify to the audience their relationship together and so they can tell that they are friends.

Sound: The diegetic sound that will be used in this scene would be the dialogue from their conversation and the music coming from the radio that they are listening to. This will allow the audience to see that they are friends having a night in and a little catch up.

Mise-En- Scene: The props in this scene are the sofa they are sitting on, the blanket and the pillows they are leaning on. These all represent how comfortable they are with each other and brings a homely feel.

Scenario: The music the girls have been listening to has been interrupted by a radio report about an asteroid falling to earth and this has caught their attention so Taylor walks to the radio and turns it up.

Cinematography: The use of eye level angle allows the audience to see everything that is going on within the shot meaning that they can tell that there is a hand and it’s turning the radio up. I decided to use a close up so show the significances of the radio and that the characters know that the broadcast is important.

Sound: The diegetic sound used would again be the dialogue from the radio reporter speaking and telling the characters and audience what is happening.

Mise-En-Scene: The radio is of significant as it will be broadcasting a crucial report that the girl will be listening to when their music gets interrupted.

Cinematography: I have decided to use a high angle two shot so it can show both of the characters and they are looking up to the area where they have heard the noise.

Sound: The diegetic sounds used will again be the dialogue from their laughter after they hear the report and think it’s not true. A non diegetic soundtrack to connote to the audience that something is going to go wrong and to build tension in the scene.

Mise-En-Scene: The blanket is now portrayed as safety for Taylor and Sarah. They are gripping it tightly and holding it up to their face so they can feel protected.

Scenario: The girls have decided to go to the phone and call for help. Taylor picks up the phone to call for help but she realises that the phone is dead.

Cinematography: The eye level close up on her face will allow the audience to see her emotions and feel sympathy for the characters that are both off and on the screen.

Sound: Diegetic sounds being used are a long dead line sound so the audience know that there is no one on the other line and so they can’t call for help. The non – diegetic soundtrack will still be in the background to add to the atmosphere, but it wouldn’t be as loud.

Mise-En-Scene: The phone was meant to represent their safety but because it’s dead it represents the danger that they are going to be in.
