MINEOLA, TX

Sanderson Farms and Todd & Sargent propose to engineer and construct the new 8,500 ton per week feedmill scheduled to be built in Mineola, Texas. Todd & Sargent designers and project engineers have been working closely with Pic Billingsley over the past few months to provide new feedmill general arrangement drawings.

Features of this facility will include 45,000 BPH unit train corn receiving system, 650,000 bushels corn storage, 50 TPH hammermill system, 14,000 CFH soft stock ingredient receiving, 160 TPH batching system, 19 bins of ingredient storage, dual loadout drives, and 85 TPH CPM pelleting system with horizontal cooler and crumbler. The pellet cooling cyclones incorporate a fan to deliver 60,000 CFM. Also included are ancillary pre-engineered metal buildings, mechanical installation, and electrical installation with lightning protection. This state-of-the-art poultry complex will have the capacity to process 1.25 million birds per week for retail chill pack customers.

This will be the seventh feedmill that Todd & Sargent has built for Sanderson Farms. Other locations include McComb, Mississippi; Easterly, Texas; Adel, Georgia; Collins, Mississippi; Kinston, North Carolina; and Oakwood, Texas.

TraditionWe are proud to have recently held our 43rd annual T&S company picnic. While this event has certainly changed over the years, the tradition has maintained at least one constant the past four decades: family. There’s often talk of the “T&S Family” and it doesn’t matter what your name is or where you’re from—if you’re here, you’re welcomed into it. The chance to see a new generation of T&S colleagues and their children is beyond rewarding. And if you search the crowds at these events you’ll spot the faces of a number of people who attended as kids themselves some decades ago (myself included along with the Steeles, Sondgeroths, Noelcks, Baumhovers, Kennedys, Taggarts, and Ayers). The relationships and camaraderie developed over the years at events like these is something we’re very proud of—and eager to continue.

We’re excited this year to expand this tradition with picnics at our jobsites as well. We have the best field crews in the business, and the things they accomplish are nothing short of amazing. While our jobsites are frequently separated from our office by several hundred miles, our field team is as much a part of our company and our family as anyone—and we couldn’t do what we do without them. They are dedicated, talented, and make sacrifices every day to help achieve our joint mission of serving the needs of our clients. If you’re lucky enough to have the chance to interact with our field crews, please join me in taking the opportunity to thank them for the great things they do.

That’s a tradition we can all be proud of.

Crews are busy power troweling the 3rd floor of the new mill process tower in Saginaw, Texas.

ISU GRADSTodd & Sargent held their annual 4-person best ball golf tournament on Friday afternoon, June 16, at Jewell Golf & Country Club in Jewell, Iowa. The weather was a perfect Iowa summer day. When all golfers were finished, hole prizes were awarded and lunch was served. SAFETY CORNERThe Todd & Sargent Corporate Safety Committee is proud to announce the winner of the 2016 Superintendent of the Year Award. Superintendent Robby Shell is the recipient of this award. Robby and his crew completed the oat storage complex for Grain Millers Inc. in St. Ansgar, Iowa, with no work-related injuries. Robby received a check for $1,000, a trophy, and his name will be added to the safety plaque in the home office. Robby began his employment with Todd & Sargent in 1987. REGGIE’S SLEEPOUTA group of Todd & Sargent employees and their families participated in “Reggie’s Sleepout” held on March 25, 2017, at Jack Trice Stadium located on Iowa State University’s campus in Ames, Iowa. Reggie’s Sleepout is held each year in honor of Reggie Kelsey, a young man who aged out of the foster care system in 2001 and, within three and a half months, was found dead in the Des Moines River. As a result of Reggie’s death, Youth & Shelter Services led the effort to develop the Iowa Aftercare Services Network to provide services to those aging out of foster care. This event has been held for over a decade at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, and raises much-needed awareness and funds to end youth homelessness. More than 600 campers braved the rain and cold temperatures in an effort to create their shelter for the night using only cardboard, tape, and ingenuity. Thanks to the Todd & Sargent employees and families and to the more than 100 volunteers who shared their time to make Reggie’s Sleepout Ames possible.

During the construction Team Todd & Sargent received a visit from ISU Mascot Cy.
