The yellow LED indicates that the fast freezefunction is activated. When it is selected, it also mutes the acoustic alarm(on some models only).

Fast freeze operationTo freeze the maximum amount of food, press thefast freeze button 24 hours before placing freshfood in the freezer. The recommended amount offood to be frozen is indicated on the data plate onthe inside of the appliance. When putting food in tofreeze, the red LED may light up until the idealtemperature is reached. After 24 hours deactivate the fast freeze function.

Tips for freezing and storing fresh food• Before freezing, wrap and seal fresh food in:

aluminium foil, plastic wrap, cling film, polyethylene containers with lids, and othercontainers provided they are suitable for freezingfoods.

• Foodstuffs (except meat, see below) must befresh, mature and of prime quality in order toobtain high quality frozen food.

• Fresh vegetables and fruit should preferably befrozen as soon as they are picked to maintain thefull original nutritional value, consistency, colourand flavour.

Some meat, especially game, should be hungbefore it is frozen.Note:• Always leave hot food to cool before placing in

the freezer.• Use fully or partially defrosted foods immediately.

Do not refreeze unless the food is cooked after ithas thawed. Once cooked, the thawed food canbe refrozen.

Freezing and storing fresh food• Place foods to be frozen in the two upper

baskets.• When the freezer is used without the rack, place

the ice packs above the food to be frozen at thefront of the top drawer.

Operation of the freezerThe freezer can be used for storing already frozenfood and for freezing fresh food. The amount offresh food (in kg) that can be frozen in 24 hours isindicated on the appliance data plate. The freezercan operate at ambient temperatures between+10°C and +32°C. Optimal performance isobtained at temperatures between +16°C and+32°C.

Switching on the freezer for the first time• There is no need to set the freezer temperature

on the thermostat because the appliance isalready factory set.

• Plug in the appliance. The green LED (indicatingthat the appliance is ON) and the red LED willlight up, and on some models also the acousticalarm (if provided) will sound after about 1minute, indicating that the freezer has not yetreached a sufficiently cold temperature forstorage of foodstuffs.

• To mute the acoustic alarm press the fast freezebutton; the yellow LED will light up.

• Deactivate the fast freeze function when the redLED goes out.

Adjusting the thermostat Select the freezer compartment temperature usingthe thermostat knob:1 = Minimum freezing power4 = Maximum freezing powerAmbient air temperature, the frequency of dooropening and the amount of food to freeze canaffect the freezer temperature adjustments. We therefore recommend starting with a mediumtemperature setting 2 - 3.

Function of LEDs and acoustic alarm (if present) The green LED indicates whether the appliance is ON.The red LED (and the acoustic alarm on somemodels) indicates that the internal temperature ofthe appliance is not suitable for storing food.

Daily use

Connect the appliance to the mains power supply. The ideal temperatures for preserving food havealready been set at the factory (2-3/MED).

Note: After switching the appliance on, it will benecessary to wait for 2 to 3 hours before atemperature suitable for a standard appliance loadis reached.
