January 14, 2016 Minutes: Jackie Adams made motion to accept the January 14 meeting minutes. Gail Sheldon seconded the motion. The minutes were approved. Financial Report (John Venditta): John went over the Balance Sheet with the board. There was nothing unusual to report; everything is right where it should be. The Budget Comparative also shows that things are as expected in what has been spent. John encouraged the board to think about using the rest of their grants by end of the fiscal year. The biggest thing on the budget will be the new ILS, which will come up next year. The Financial Report has been filed for audit. Administrator Report (John Venditta): Kacey, Rick and John have been appointed to the OSJM Health and Safety Team. They attended a CPR/First Aid refresher that included defibrillator training. Maryland Library Day was a success in spite of scheduling issues caused by the Governor’s State Address. John was a little disappointed that senators Eckardt and Hershey were two of the seven nay votes for our funding bill, which passed 40-7. John is participating in the selection of Talbot County’s next Director, as part of the search committee. They are in the midst of live interviews with five good candidates. The Talbot Library board hopes to make an offer at the end of March. Written in Renee’s DLDS report, Leslie Bowman refers to some work we have been doing. As of FY-2017, it seems likely that LBPH’s Youth Services position will no longer be grant funded through ESRL, but will be paid for with LBPH’s state appropriation. The current grant extends through September. ILS Project: We have seen demos from Evergreen, TLC Library Solutions, Polaris and Sierra. Sirsi/Dynix Symphony is scheduled for next Tuesday afternoon. After the last demo, we will start in earnest to spec out our ideal product and work to create the RFP.
