SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS In addition to the General Rules of the WPCSA
This show is conducted in accordance with the rules of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America. Each participant in this show is responsible for the knowledge of and is subject to these rules. 1. Eligibility: All Ponies/Cobs must be registered in the studbook of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America, or, if under one year, be eligible for registration. A Pony/Cob must be shown under its full registered Welsh name and number. All lease agreements must be officially recorded through the Society office. All recorded leases are designated as such on the animal’s Certificate of Registration. Leased animals being shown must present a copy of registration listing the lessee.
2. Payment of Fees: Only cash, check or Money Orders payable in US Currency will be accepted. Fees must be paid in full with paperwork and signatures complete before numbers will be issued . A completed and signed check must accompany entries. Returned checks will be subject to a $35 fee and must be cleared within 30 days of the last day of the show, or disciplinary actions will be sought through the WPCSA. Refund Policy: No refunds will be given unless a class is canceled, or upon presentation of a Vet Certificate/Doctor’s note and notification to the Show Secretary before the start of the show . The Show Committee’s discretion will be used in other instances. Decisions of Show Management are final.
3. Height and Measurement: All halter animals 6 years and over, and all performance animals, must present a copy of a WPCSA or USEF permanent measurement card or measurement conducted during the current competition year, or be measured before getting numbers to show. Measurement to take place at 9:00 AM on Friday and 7:30AM on Saturday. All performance ponies must have a measurement card.
4. Exhibitors, parents and/or guardians of minor exhibitors shall indemnify and hold harmless Hopkins County Civic Center, WPCSA, Red River Welsh Pony Association, employees and/or all horse show officials and employees or volunteers from any and all liability resulting in injury and/or loss sustained by any person, child or ward of such parent/guardian, in any manner occasioned.
5. Entries: Copy of BOTH sides of the registration papers MUST accompany each entry. If you have a current measurement card, include a copy of it. Exhibitor numbers will not be issued until ALL paperwork is in order, and any measuring required has been completed. PLEASE take the time to fill out your entry form correctly and completely. Entries must be received and complete by March 28th or post-entry fees of $30 per pony will apply. 6. Stalls – Stalls are available for $60 for Thursday thru Sunday. Extra nights will be an additional $25. Shavings are $8 per bag. No outside shavings allowed.
Other fees are as follows:
● Breeding classes $40.00 (includes WPCSA recording fee) ● Performance Classes WPCSA $15 ● Open classes/hunter warm up $10.00 (will be denoted with a *) ● WPCSA recording fee, $5 per pony, per judge, if not entered in halter ● Office Fee, $20 per pony ● Jump Fee - $20 per pony ● WPCSA Measurement Fee for non-WPCSA members (each animal) $5 ● WPCSA Non-Member fee - $5 per owner ● Post-Entry Fee-one time fee of $30 per pony, then class fees as above. Entries must be on
time and complete to avoid this fee. This will be enforced!!! ● Stalls - $60.00 ( Thursday-Sunday end of show)/$25 one day stall or show off trailer fee ● Shavings $8 per bag (no outside shavings allowed) ● Extra stall nights $25 ● RV Hookups - $35.00 per night
7. Prize Money : $25 will be awarded to each Judge’s Champion Section A, Section B, Section C/D, Supreme Champion Gelding and Grand Champion Half-Welsh/Partbred. $50 will be awarded to the winner of the Ridden Welsh Classic Championship and $25 to the Reserve Champion. Supreme Champion under each judge will receive $50 and Reserve Supreme will receive $35.
Stake Classes: To qualify for entry, exhibitors must enter and compete in at least one other class in the division. All stake/jackpot classes will pay $20 to first place, $10 to second place. Classes with less than 3 entries do not pay out Stake money. Any divisions that are not filled (3 entries in all 3 classes) will not be awarded Championships.
8. Ribbons : Ribbons for 1-5 th place will be awarded. Champion and Reserve Champion in all divisions will receive rosettes. Supreme Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion will receive a neck sash.
9. Driving: For animals in harness, animals must be fully bridled while hitching and unhitching. Removing the bridle from an animal harnessed to a vehicle, or leaving an animal unattended while hitched, anywhere on the show grounds, will result in instant elimination and removal from the show grounds. A properly attired groom or passenger is required for all pairs, tandems, unicorns or 4 in hand, capable of rendering assistance in case of an emergency. Failure to comply will result in elimination from the competition.
10. All riders in any class where jumping is required and/or when jumping anywhere on the show grounds, must wear protective headgear . Anyone violating this rule will be prohibited from further riding until in compliance. NOTE: Protective headgear is advised and welcome in all classes of any age group, with no judging penalties.
11. Junior exhibitors must wear approved protective headgear (ASTM/SEI) at all times whenever mounted or in a driven vehicle at all times while on the show ground. Harness must be secured and properly fitted. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is properly in place.
12. All dogs must be on leash or secured at all times.
13. Juniors under the age of 14 are not allowed to show Stallions.
14. ANY abuse towards any animal or Show Official/Staff will be cause for immediate ejection from the show and premises, WITHOUT REFUND.
15. Management reserves unto itself the right to refuse or cancel any entries, disqualify riders, drivers or exhibitors without incurring claim for damages. Classes will be split where entries warrant. Decisions of the Show Management are final.
16. Two (2) Minute Gate Rule: To be strictly enforced. Additional three (3) minutes will be allowed for requested tack change. The Gate will not be held for more than five (5) minutes. 17. Please fill in your entry forms as completely as possible, including exhibitor’s Date of Birth (juniors) and WPCSA owner numbers. This is especially important for tracking your pony’s points by WPCSA. Thank you in advance for your cooperation! 18. In Western Classes : In western classes, an equine can be ridden in a snaffle bridle or bosal regardless of age, as long as the rider carries a rein in each hand.
