1. Please refer conversation on the subject matter on11 Dec 15 with Lieutenant Colonel Satish Kumar Misra of myunit.

2. As discussed we are conducting a National level QUIzcompetition as a build up to the Army Day 2016 at ManekshawCentre, Delhi Cantt on 07 Jan 2016. Please find attached,General instructions, sample poster and leaflet of the said event.

3. You are requested to issue directions to 200 Schools inDelhi/NCR under your jurisdiction for confirmed participation ofone team each from each school. The details of the conduct areelaborated in the general. instructions. The list of Schoolsbeing directed, be provided to this unit for further co-ordinationat our level.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONARMY DAY QUIZ COMPETITION 2016

1. A quiz competition IS being conducted by307 Medium Regiment /261 ·Artillery Brigade under the aegis ofHQ Delhi Area for school children of Delhi / NCR as a prelude tothe Army Day celebrations.

2. Aim. The aim of the competition is to increase theawareness level of school children residing in Delhi / NCR aboutCourage, Valour and Sacrifice of Indian Army.

3. Theme, The theme of the Quiz Competition is "Indian Army: Symbol of Courage, Valour and Sacrifice'.

PARTICIPATION

4. The Army Day Quiz Competition entails the participation ofmax two teams per school comprising of three students each(Children from CI IX to XII) of max schools of Delhi / NCR. Itwould be the endeavour to ensure that the participation bewholesome and all schools of Delhi / NCR are covered. The samewould be undertaken by ensuring max publicity of the event andclose co-ord with the schools of Delhi / NCR would be undertakenfor the successful participation of the children from differentspheres of society. The list of schools which would be appch is at!at Appx A.

CONDUCT

5. Venue. The Army Day Quiz Competition is being conductedat Zorawar Auditorium, Manekshaw Centre.

6. Schedule. The Quiz Competition is scheduled to beconducted on 07 Jan 16.

7. The Quiz is being conducted in the fwg two phs :-

!(a) Ph - I. Written Quiz for all teams.

(b) Ph - II. Final quiz competition on stage for six (06)qualifying teams.

8. PH - I : Preliminary Test. A written quiz paper of 25questions is proposed which would be answered as a team andwould be held initially on 07 Jan 15. In case of a tie for qualifying,special star marked questions will be used to resolve the issue. Incase more than one team from same school qualifies for Ph-II,then only one team which. is higher in ranking will be allowed toparticipate in stg round. All the teams participating in the QuizCompetition would be undergoing the written test which would bethe eliminator for the competition. From the Ph - I, the top sixteams would be selected for Ph - II. The fwg would be thebreakup of the written test :-

(a) 05 x Multiple choice questions (MCQs).

(b) 15 x Single word / short answer questions.

(c) 05 x Visual based questions.

9. Ph - II : Final Quiz Competition. The Ph - II of thecompetition would be among the top six teams qualifying fromPh - I. The fwg would be the modalities of conduct of the finalQuiz :-

(a) Quiz Master and Conduct. Mr AdiUya Nath Mubayi,a renowned quiz master would be hired for conduct of thequiz and also for methodology, format and extraneousarngs for the stage quiz (details of expdr are enclosed atAppx B) .

(b) The fwg would the various stgs for the Stg QuizCompetition: -

(i) Round - I : Progressive Clues. Each teamwill be given a question for which they will be providedwith 3 clues, one after the other, making itprogressively easier to identify the answer but withreduction in points. A team can give one answer onlyand depending on the number of clues used, they willbe awarded points. This would be a non-passinground. If a team uses all the clues/gives an incorrectanswer, the question passes to the audience.

(ii) Round - II :Visual Stills. Each team will begiven a question, that will be based on an image. Thiswill be a passing round i.e. if a team is unable toanswer, or answer incorrectly, the question passes tothe next team for bonus points. There will be nonegative marking in this round.

(iii) Round - III : Direct Oral. Each team will beasked an oral question, which they will have to beanswered in the given time (approximately 15-20seconds). This will also be a passing round and therewill be no negative marking in this round.

(iv) Round - IV : Subject Special. A grid of 9blocks will be shown to the 6 teams, from which eachteam can choose anyone subject that they like. Theboxes mentioned will either be numbered or namedwith a particular subject. Once a subject is chosen itcannot be selected again. Hence, the 9 boxes for 6teams thereby ensuring a choice for the last team aswell. Teams will be asked to choose their subject onthe basis of ascending order of points scored up to thebeginning of the round. There will be no negativepoints and questions shall pass to other teams in thesame order.

(v) Round - V : AudiolVisual. Each team will begiven a question accompanied by an audio/video clip.This will also 'be a passing round and there will be nonegative marking in this round.

(vi) Round - VI : Buzzer. A set of 6 questions willbe asked that are open to each team on the buzzer.Questions in this round will not appear on the screenand will be read out by the Quizmaster. Teams will winpoints for buzzing first and answering the questioncorrectly. If the team that presses the buzzer answersincorrectly, it will lose points.

(vii) At the end of the 6 rounds, the team with thehighest score will be crowned the champions. In caseof a tie, a tie breaker round will be conducted to resolveit.

(iv) Awards and honours.

(v) Wars, battles, and engagements.

11. Prizes. The fwg are the prizes for the subject competition

(a) Rolling Trophy for the Winner Team.

(b) Cash award of Rs 50,0001- to the winning team, Rs30,0001- to the runners up team and Rs 15,0001- to the2nd runners up team.

(c) Prizes to all the six teams participating in the final quiz.

(d) Medals and Certs to all participants incl Winners andRunners Up Team.

(e) Souvenirs to Quiz Master and conducting staff.

12. Refreshments. The fwg are the refreshment arrangementsis being made for the event-

(a) Packed refreshment for the audience (approx str of500) which would be placed on the chairs.

(b) High tea for Chief Guest, selective audience andparticipants of ph-II (approx str 80 - 100).

CONCLUSION

14. The Army Day Quiz Competition aims to inculcate a sense ofcompetition among the children regarding their knowledge of CurrentAffairs and Indian Mil History. The conduct of this competition wouldbe as a precursor to the Army Day Celebrations - 2016 and alsobring about awareness regarding the event being conducted. Theevent would also help in strengthening the bond between the armedforces and the gen public and would also act as a motivating factorfor children to join the armed forces.
