Welcome Kankakee Community Col-lege student athletes, parents, support-ers and fans!

Participation and success in athlet-ics is often the basis for many of life’s skills and experiences. Competition through KCC’s six intercollegiate sports enhances a student athlete’s desire for excellent while further develop-ing teamwork, communication, time management and commitment skills. As we begin another year of KCC athlet-ics, I continue to be inspired by the level of commitment and determination of our student athletes to succeed not just in their respective sports but in the classroom!

Our athletic program, and each sport, begin with the strong dedication of our complete coaching staff and

are supported by the KCC Board of Trustees and our community. As parents and educators, we pledge to join your efforts to provide encouragement and support to our student athletes.

It is an honor to be part of the Cava-lier family, and I would like to thank the parents of our student athletes, each member of the coaching staff, and the members of our Cavalier Club who help to support our athletic teams.

Please join the Board of Trustees, myself, faculty, staff, and all Cavalier fans in wishing each of our teams and coaches a successful season.

The Cavaliers return six players from the 2013 team that won the Region IV championship for a 15th con-secutive trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.

“With six sophomores and a great group of freshman, they should again lead us to another great season,” said Cavaliers veteran Head Coach Dennis Clark. “I always expect big things from my returning sophomores. I feel they will lead us, along with the talented freshmen, toward our 19th Region IV championship and the op-portunity to compete for an NJCAA Division II National Championship.”

The returning Cavs are led by Erin Gaston, a pitcher and All-Region player who was 17-1 with a 2.89 E.R.A. last year. “I expect Erin to have a great year,” said Clark. “She got a lot of experience last year”

The Cavaliers also return five talented position players led by All-Region IV player Jessica Arebalo (3B). Arebalo hit .384 with 46 RBI last year. Other starters back for 2014 are Mary Rankin (OF/INF) who hit .382 with 38 RBI last year; and Megan McNamee (RF), who hit .358 last year. Other returning players are Allie Hill (1B) and Megan O’Brien (INF).

“The good thing about this group is they can play mul-tiple positions and are all great athletes” said Clark.
