AdministrAtion
President
John S. Pistole is the fifth
president of Anderson University. He
took over the office in March 2015. A
1978 graduate of AU, he earned a
juris doctorate from Indiana
University Robert H. McKinney
School of Law before going into
practice for two years. Pistole began a
career with the FBI in 1983 before he
rose through the ranks and was
appointed deputy director in 2004. In
March 2006, the FBI honored Pistole with the 2005
Presidential Rank of Distinguished Executive. President
Barack Obama appointed Pistole as head of the
Transportation Security Administration in the spring of 2010.
He was recognized as one of several outstanding alumni of
institutions within the Council for Christian Colleges and
Universities (CCCU) and received an Honorary Doctor of
Laws degree from Anderson University.
Athletic Director
Marcie Taylor is in her seventh year as the athletic
director at Anderson University.
Taylor is in her 25th year overall at Anderson and is
currently the head women’s
basketball coach. Before taking
over the AD position, Taylor was
the associate athletic director.
Taylor was a guard for the Lady
Ravens from 1980-84 and graduated
in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in
secondary education/physical
education and a minor in biology.
She earned a master’s degree in
exercise physiology from Ball State
in 1988.
Taylor spent one year as an assistant coach at AU before
taking over the program in 1991.

Tony Holloway enters his eighth season as the head coach
of the AU softball program in 2015 and has been with the
program for 30 years.
In 2014, Holloway guided the Ravens to their fourth
consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title and
subsequent NCAA Division III Tournament berth.
In the 2013 NCAA Tournament, Anderson won their first
regional championship, defeating No. 2 Trine University twice,
and beating Allegheny College in the championship to advance
to the Division III World Series in Eau Claire, Wisc. AU
finished the season 31-18 overall and 12-4 in the HCAC.
The 2011 AU squad fell to eventual national champion and
No. 1 Linfield and No. 5 Central in the national tournament.
Holloway has been voted HCAC Coach of the Year following each of the last four seasons
(2011-14).
Holloway served as an assistant coach for 23 years before taking over the top spot in
2008. AU has won seven conference championships, nine post-season conference titles, and
made seven NCAA Division III regional appearances (1999, 2000, 2007, 2011-14).
Tony and his wife, Teresa, an AU graduate and former Raven softball and volleyball
player, reside in Pendleton and have three children: Tyler, Tami Jo, and Tanner.

Justin Bates is in his tenth season as an assistant coach on the
AU softball team.
In Bates’ ten seasons with the AU softball program, the Ravens
have won seven conference championships, nine post-season
conference titles, and made seven NCAA Division III regional
appearances (1999, 2000, 2007, 2011-14).
He has helped Anderson to four consecutive Heartland
Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championships.
Bates earned his bachelor’s degree in mass
communication/journalism from Anderson University in 1995. He
also lettered in football for the Ravens.
He is originally from Vero Beach, Fla., where he played baseball and football in high school.
Bates and his wife, Heather, reside in Anderson and have a daughter, Holly.
Devin Moorman will be in her first season on the AU softball
coaching staff and will work with the pitchers.
Moorman was a four-year letterman on the AU softball team
and was a member of the 2013 team that advanced to the NCAA
Division III World Series. She was named the 2012 HCAC Pitcher
of the Year and was a three-time All-HCAC selection on the
mound.
She ranks third on the career list with 36 victories on the
mound and is fourth in appearances (90), shutouts (6) and
strikeouts (249). Her career ERA ranks ninth in school history
(3.20) and she is in the top 10 in 17 different categories.
Moorman earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2013 and has spent the last year
working in Costa Rica.

The Anderson University softball teamwon their fourth consecutive HeartlandCollegiate Athletic ConferenceTournament championship in 2014. TheRavens clinched the crown with a 13-4victory over Bluffton University in theHCAC Championship game. In threegames in the HCAC Tournament,Anderson outscored their opponents 29-8and they never trailed in any game.
By winning the HCAC title, Andersonadvanced to the NCAA Regionals, wherethey defeated Fontbonne University in theopening game, 9-5, thanks to a walk-offgrand slam by Nichole Frazier. AU thenfell to Illinois Wesleyan University andLake Forest College, ending their run.
The Ravens earned multiple HCAChonors in 2014, including MVP, Pitcher ofthe Year, and Coach of the Year. SamiFrazier won Pitcher of the Year aftergoing 15-4 with a 2.21 era. She struck out86 batters and had one save.
Nichole Frazier earned conference
MVP after hitting .400 with aconference-best slugging percentage of.800 in league play. Frazier also rankedamong the conference leaders in homeruns (6), RBI (22), and total bases (40).
Head Coach Tony Holloway wonCoach of the Year for the fourthconsecutive season after guiding theRavens to a 26-7 regular season record,including 15-1 in the HCAC.
Three other Ravens were named tothe HCAC First Team: Yardley Collett,Samantha Steele, and Katie McCool.Hannah Belvo was named to the HCACSecond Team, and Morgan Burke wasnamed HCAC Honorable Mention.
Throughout the regular season,Nichole Frazier earned HCAC Hitter ofthe Week honors twice. Tayar Kelso wasnamed Hitter of the Week once. SamiFrazier won Pitcher of the Week honorson two occasions, and Hannah Belvo wasnamed Pitcher of the Week once.

The Anderson University Sports
Medicine program has built itself into one
of the finest small college programs in
the nation. The numerous sports teams
rely upon the athletic trainers year-round
to help mend their wounds and
rehabilitate injuries.
Steven "Doc" Risinger, AU’s
director of sports medicine, head athletic
trainer and professor of kinesiology, has
crafted a superlative career in the field of
sports medicine over the past 37 years. A
member of the Indiana Athletic Trainers
Hall of Fame and a 1974 Anderson
University graduate, Risinger has worked
diligently to build the AU program into a
national leader. In the summer of 2000,
the National Athletic Trainer’s
Association named Risinger as the
nation’s Most Distinguished Athletic
Trainer for 2000, an annual award
recognizing the organization’s trainer of
the year.
Among his other numerous honors,
Risinger was presented with the
prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash in
1999, the highest honor bestowed upon
citizens of the state of Indiana. In the
summer of 1998, he worked at the
Olympic Training center in Colorado
Springs, Colo. He is also a past president
of the Indiana Athletic Trainers
Association National Board of
Certification and NATA member. In
addition, Risinger has been named
Indiana Athletic Trainer of the Year. He
has also been active as the co-chairman
of the Governmental Affairs Committee
that was responsible for obtaining
licensure for Indiana athletic trainers and
was appointed by the governor as the first
president of the Indiana Athletic Trainers
Licensure Board. Along with his long
tenure at Anderson University, Risinger
has worked with the Chicago Bears,
Kansas City Chiefs, and Indianapolis
Colts. Risinger and his wife, Barb, have
three sons: Steve Jr., Ben, and Nick.
Risinger is assisted by Mandy Bush,
Christina Merckx, Adam Crosby, Chris
Hamlyn, and Olivia Jackson.
Mandy Bush is in her ninth year on
the AU sports medicine staff. She earned
her bachelor’s degree in athletic training
from Anderson University in 2001. She
added her MSEd in exercise science from
the University of Kansas in 2003 and was
a graduate assistant at MidAmerica
Nazarene University. Bush and her
husband, Jimmy, reside in Noblesville.
Christina Merckx is the director of
athletic training education and assistant
professor of kinesiology. She is a
graduate of Anderson University and
received her Master of Science degree in
sports management from the University
of Northern Colorado. She added her
PhD in human performance from
Southern Mississippi, and re-joined the
AU staff in 2011.
Adam Crosby is in his fourth year
on the AU sports medicine staff. He
earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic
training from AU in 2008 and added his
master’s degree in sport and human
performance from Ball State University
in 2010.
Chris Hamlyn is in his fourth year
on the AU sports medicine staff. He
earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic
training from Manchester College in 2007
and added his master’s degree in
kinesiology with emphasis in athletic
training from Indiana University in 2009.
Olivia Jackson is in her first year as
an assistant athletic trainer and preceptor
within the Department of Athletics. She
is employed by Accelerated
Rehabilitation Centers to serve the AU
Athletic Training Department. Jackson
completed her Master of Science degree
in sport and exercise science at the
University of Central Florida in 2014,
where she worked as a graduate assistant
athletic trainer. She also worked at the
University of North Carolina at
Greensboro as a certified intern athletic
trainer during the 2011-2012 school year.
Jackson is a 2011 graduate of Marietta
College where she earned her Bachelor of
Science degree in athletic training.
Serving as team physicians for the
tenth year will be Dr. Jared Jones and
orthopedic surgeons Nimu Surtani and
Joe Jerman.
