Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. The Office will be closed on the following days: Monday, August 4, 2014 - Civic Holiday Check the County of Newell website for last minute meeting changes as well as minutes and agendas The County of Newell Municipal Enforcement Department is reminding everyone that dogs are not permitted to run at large within the County of Newell. As stated in the County of Newell Animal Control Bylaw 1720-11 section 4.25, running at large means an animal(s) not under the control of the owner and has been observed or captured on property in which the dog owner has no right of occupation. Under section 6.5 of this bylaw, the dog owner or person in care or control of any animal shall ensure that such animal is not permitted to run at large. The penalty for this infraction is a $100.00 fine. If you have any questions in regards to this notice and/or the bylaw, you can visit our website at www. countyofnewell.ab.ca or call us at 403-362-3266 Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. The County Municipal Enforcement Department appreciates the public’s assistance in this matter. Public Notice The MPC/Council Meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 21, 2014 has been CANCELLED The County and its urban community partners, including the City of Brooks, the Town of Bassano, and the Villages of Duchess and Rosemary, are participating in a review of local transportation needs. The objective of the review is to develop a business plan for an integrated regional service that operates throughout the extended Newell Region. Input from those who have transportation needs or ideas that could enhance the service is encouraged. As we are proud of the Mini-bus service and want to continue to provide this service in the future, the County of Newell welcomes any suggestions or concerns one might have. Please direct them in confidence to Layne Johnson, Director of Corporate Services at (403) 362-3266. Happy Riding! This survey will help us in the future to better plan and prepare the Region of Newell for delivering tourism services. The Survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and residents, visitors, and business owners (industry), are encouraged to participate. By taking part in this survey, you have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes. Six Hotel Room Prizes have been provided by the Canalta Hotels and the Canadian Destination Groups Ltd. These Hotel rooms are region free so you will have the ability to stay at any Canalta (Ramada or Canalta hotels) or Canadian Destination Groups Ltd. Hotels (Heritage Inn) in Alberta. This prize is only available for those who participate in the survey and must be used before the end of the 2014 year. The information collected in this survey is completely anonymous and cannot be traced back to you as a survey participant. Each round trip costs $5.00. If you, a member of your family, or someone you know would be interested in the Mini-bus service, we encourage you to contact Anne Penner or Jenny Toth at 403-363-7890 (Mini Bus Cell) for further information. You will find the County of Newell Mini-bus Schedule below. I would like to remind you that the deadline for nominating a yard is Friday, July 18th. After the 18th, a group will judge the nominated yards and try to limit the awards to only three for the entire County (I have had to do this in the past, it is not easy to narrow the field to three). As we have in the past, we would like to tour any interested participants around to the three winners’ yards (with the owner’s permission, of course) in order to visit with the winner, gather tips for our own yards, and network with gardening and beautification enthusiasts from around the County. If you are interested in coming with us, please RSVP to Joeleen Porfoun at 403-794-2311, by noon on July 22. We will load the busses on Friday, July 25th at 9:00 am and spend what I can only assume will be a fun-filled day touring the many yards. Lunch and refreshments will be included. Please take the time to nominate a family member, a friend, a neighbour, a general acquaintance, whoever. If they have a wonderful yard, we would love to see it. The nomination form appears to the left. Please feel free to cut it out and drop it off at the County Administration building anytime between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, on or before July 18th.
