Section 1 Horses IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ENTRY FEES: $ 1.00 per class per horse has been included to cover RAS charges and levies. While the entry fee for the class is shown at the top of each section, a charge of $2 will be made for Back Numbers, which must be worn by competitors. The $2 to be paid with entry fee is refundable on the return of the Back Number in good condition. It is permissible for entrants to use their own breastplate numbers, however, entrants must advise this on the entry forms, and they must use the number allocated in the show catalogue. In this case they do not need to pay the back number fee. Please Note: 1. All competitors and exhibitors ride and exhibit at their own risk. 2. It is intended that we irrigate, however, this is dependant on District By Laws at the time. 3. Information re safety helmets. 4. Boundaries for our District. 5. All ridden horses/ponies must be 3 years of age or over. * Ring judging will commence at 8.30am. * F.E.I. jumping starts at 12 noon. * Measuring starts at 7.30am and is for 1 hour duration only. (2) FS TESTING: The use of tranquillisers, stimulants, or any drug capable of effecting performance of horse or ponies is forbidden. Competitors are advised that tests for forbidden substances may be carried out during the show and that testing of all animals is at the owner's risk. DEFINITION OF MALVERN DISTRICT COUNTY:

(Formerly Old Malvern County)Area between the Waimakariri River to the Rakaia River. West side of Intake Road, South side of the Old West Coast Road from Intake Road to Sandy Knolls Road; West side of Sandy Knolls Road down to West side of Aylesbury Road to Burnham. West side of Main South Road from Burnham to the Selwyn River up to Mitchells Road, a line from corner of Hororata/Dunsandel Road to Te Pirita Road, West side of Te Pirita Road down to Rakaia Terrace Road, from North side of Rakaia Terrace Road up to Steels Road; West side of Steels Road to the Rakaia River.

(5) OWNERSHIP

All horses and ponies entered in competitive classes or ring events or parading must be in the name of the bona fide owner. All animals must be named at time of entry.

(6) LEASES

Leases or partnerships must be for no less than a six month period and shall commence and be lodged with the RAS by or on the 1st August or the 1st January.

(7) HATS AND SAFETY HELMETS

The following information has been received by the Royal Agricultural Society of N.Z. and to meet requirements at the Malvern A & P Show, this must be adhered to:

a) A Hard Hat/Safety Helmet is generally described as a hunting cap, bowler, protective headgear or a safety helmet.

b) Wearing a hard hat is compulsory for anyone competing on, working in or schooling or riding for any other reason at an A & P Show or in any area considered to be for what ever reason a part of the Showground, with the exception of riders over 17 competing in the Stock and Station section.

c) All riders 16 and under must wear protective headgear, which includes a restraining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Such headgear must be worn with the chinstrap properly adjusted and fastened when in the arena or ring, the practice area collecting rings or anywhere else within a Showground.

It is strongly recommended that all riders particularly those jumping horses wear protective headgear conforming to the current NZ Safety Standard or an equivalent standard and that the headgear be secured by a retention harness.

(8) ALL CLASSES ARE RUN UNDER RAS RULES

(9) A judge's travel fund has also been introduced to assist with judge's travelling expenses at $2 per competitor/exhibitor.
