DC’s Report Welcome to our October “Pink” Rally raising money for breast cancer research/awareness. Please remember to wear your best “pink” outfits – horses included (as long as they are safe). It is daylight saving this Saturday night – please put your clocks forward 1 hour before going to bed – that way you wont miss the start of pony club Sunday morning. Keep this date in your diary – Sunday 8 December - it is our pony club show – we will need all hands on deck to make this a successful fundraiser for the club. Also our Christmas / Awards dinner/breakup will be on Friday November 29 at the Clifton Springs Golf Club – please keep this date free – more information about this will be coming to you next month. The Victorian Government’s Consumer Affairs Agency requires us to change our rules of incorporation by 26th November 2013 and acceptance of these rules must be voted on at a special general meeting of all members. This meeting will be held at the next pony club rally in November. Information about this will be sent to you. See you on Sunday J

Isabella Morrison
My name is Isabella Morrison, I am 12 years old and I love my ponies and riding. My pony’s name is Scully and I also have another pony called Toy. I don’t ride Toy much anymore but I still go and see him all the time. I am in Year 7 at school and I go to Saint Ignatius College Geelong.
I am grade 4 in Dressage, grade 5 in cross country, F grade in show jumping and grade 5 in Combined training. My favorite lesson at pony club is Show Jumping. I am in the Clydies Group and the group leader is my mum.
I have 1 BFFL at school and 2 BF’s. I love seeing all my friends at school and at pony club. My favorite colour is Pink or Purple. My favorite food is Lasagna and my favorite fruit is Cantaloupe/ Rock melon.
When I’m not riding I like to see my friends and go shopping.
I have been riding since I was 5 and haven’t stopped since. I started pony club when I was 8.
My biggest achievement was winning 5th overall in the BEDS series on Toy in 2011. My ambition is to go up to Grade 3 in dressage on Scully.
Presentations for End of Year We will be holding a meeting during November open to all members to count all the votes by instructors for the awards at the end of the year
Watch this space for the meeting date. To ensure transparency, it is important that all parents can attend.

Speed to safety, by Mell Webb Speed to safety was a really good experience for me and my horse, he really enjoyed being back on the track and I enjoyed being on the course proper. The day ran really smoothly and everyone who organized it did a great job. There were lots of cameras and people taking photos of us. Going around the track there was so much adrenalin I just wanted to let my horse run. But I held him back and had a good look around like the Grand Stand's and winning post and everything, there was so much to look at from different points of views and being right there in it was pretty cool, I’d definitely do it again
Expression of Interest Saddle Fit Saddle Fit – Horseland Geelong would like to offer the services of ASFA accredited saddle fitter Pam Davey to visit our club on a rally day.

Why does my horse toss his head under saddle? Horses and People, 9/8/2012. “Head tossing in horses can be a frustrating and confusing problem. Some horses will toss their heads all the time, others only when being ridden, but is it a physical complaint or a behavioural problem? We asked a Veterinarian, an Equine Dental Vet, an Equitation Science/Behavioural Consultant, and a Veterinary Chiropractor to explain from their expert perspectives…”

Ridden Publisher: J.A. Allen Format: Hardcover Number of Pages: 240 Author: Ulrike Thiel Price: $45 (AUD) including GST http://www.horsebooks.com.au/product/0/80189/ridden-9781908809087/
It is commonly known that horses are prey animals, while humans evolved to become predators. The question should naturally arise then, do horses think of the rider on their back as a 'supporting partner' or a dangerous predator?
Every child under 17 years must be accompanied at all times by a parent or nominated guardian at all pony club events. If parents cannot attend they must sign a form designating who will be the guardian on that day, and the guardian must also sign if in agreement. This is an important safety issue.

Author Ulrike Thiel faces this question head on, putting readers in the horse's position and allowing them to experience the 'process' of being ridden both physically and psychologically. Thiel discusses classical schooling and modern competitive dressage from the horse's perspective, offering precise advice for bettering the horse-rider relationship based on recent scientific findings in psychomotor education, horse training theory, horse and human biomechanics, and equine behaviour.
October Rally – Breast Cancer Awareness – wear your best pink stuff – prizes for the best dressed rider and horse combination – remember it must be safe.
