Parks and Recreation Youth and Seniors Activity Scholarship Application Policy:

It is the policy of the Town of Huntersville Parks & Recreation Department to provide recreational opportunities to all the residents of Huntersville. Some programs require the payment of a fee to cover the expenses incurred by offering the program. Realizing the need to include all residents in these opportuni-ties, the Town of Huntersville will offer financial assistance to the youth and seniors of Huntersville meeting the guidelines listed in this document. The number of scholarships will be offered to twenty percent (20%) of the spaces available in each program. The twenty percent (20%) of spaces available for scholarships will be split in half between the fifty percent (50%) discounted rate and the twenty-five percent (25%) discounted rate. If all scholarships are not used by the end of the registration pe-riod those who received scholarships may receive the original discounted rate until all discounted funds are used up for that particular program. One scholarship per household per pro-gram, unless there are unused scholarships for that particular program at the end of registration, which then will be given out by first-come first-served basis. Applicants will be required to provide proof of income with the most current W-2 form or of-ficial documentation from CMS of meeting eligibility standards for financial assistance. Failure to provide this information will void this application.

AVAILABLE ASSISTANCEIf a resident qualifies for reduced price meals through the CMS eligibility standards, they will be eligible for a discount of twen-ty-five percent (25%) of the published fee. If a resident qualifies for free meals through CMS eligibility stan-dards, they will be eligible for a discount of fifty percent (50%) of the published fee.

INCLUSIONHuntersville Parks & Recreation Department welcomes indi-viduals of all abilities into its programs and activities as well as encourages the individuals to participate as independently as is possible in the activity of his/her choice. If you are not sure what type of assistance or reasonable accommodations is appropri-ate for you in a particular program, please contact the Depart-ment Staff.

REFUND POLICYIn developing a refund policy for the Parks and Recreation De-partment, the Administration would like to make it clear that the intention to give refunds will be priority. The Department aims to please the consumer and would never intentionally cause the public to be unsatisfied. In trying to develop fair and consistent policies, the Department realizes that there will be cases where special circumstances will arise. Those cases will be evaluated on an individual basis if the request and reason is submitted in writing to the Programming Division. Please understand that the following guidelines will be used to issue refunds out of fairness to all parties.

1. Participants may request a refund for any program for any reason. All refund requests must come to the Administrative Office of the Town of Huntersville Parks & Recreation Department. No requests may be taken off-site at programs or other facilities.

2. A complete refund will be issued if a participant withdraws from a program prior to three (3) business days of the start of the program or if an activity is canceled by the Parks and Recreation Department.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR WEIGHT LOSSThis class is for men and women aged 16 years and older who want to lose weight and/or adopt a healthy lifestyle. Eating and drinking are not simply acts of providing fuel to the body. If that were the case, we would only in-gest the “just right” amounts of food and drink necessary to sustain life, and no one would be overweight!
