Your Invitation from the ACTS President

Support for the Green Gown Awards AustralasiaAustralasian Campuses Towards Sustainability (ACTS) is delighted to invite you to sponsor the 2012 Green Gown Awards Australasia. The Awards recognise the excellent work and continued progress to embed sustainability into further and higher education institutions. Sponsoring a Green Gown Award Australasia not only means you will be associated with THE sustainability awards in tertiary education, it also provides your organisation with the opportunity to connect with key staff in the sector. We are keen to build working relationships with businesses who see the value in sustainability, and importantly, in connecting with those who practice sustainability within tertiary education. If this sounds of interest then I encourage you to get involved with this prestigious event.

We look forward to seeing you at our Awards Ceremony!

THE Sustainability Award to WinThe Green Gown Awards Australasia is the FIRST and only Award scheme dedicated to recognising excel-lence in sustainability within the tertiary education sector in Australia and New Zealand. Now in their third year, the Awards aim to recognise those institutions that are leading the way within sustainability, provid-ing a real and very positive platform for others to aspire to.

History of the Green Gown AwardsFounded in 2004 in the UK by HEEPI, and now run by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC), the UK Awards were created to recognise and reward those institutions making a posi-tive impact towards sustainability within the education sector. As sustainability has moved up the global agenda, within business, government and at home, the Green Gown Awards have provided the opportu-nity to recognise and reward sustainability excellence. They have grown in size, reputation and prestige year on year, gaining high credibility and recognition within the sector. They are now firmly embedded in the education sector calendar and are THE sustainability Award to win!

Celebrating SuccessFollowing the extremely successful launch of the Awards in Melbourne in 2010, the 2011 Green Gown Awards Australasia, at the prestigious national wine centre in Adelaide, was an excellent showcase of sus-tainability best practice. With more Awards and more winners, the 2011 Awards showcased initiatives in 6 categories and were highly celebrated. With over 20% of Australasian institutions submitting an application, 12 institutions were recognised and rewarded for their excellent achievements. 140 international delegates, from education, industry and gov-ernment attended the Awards dinner.

Capitalising on this success, the 2012 Awards will see 8 categories open for applications on Monday 4 June 2012, with an even greater number of applications expected than the previous two years.

Why are these Awards Special?Following in the footsteps of the UK, the Awards are fast becoming THE most prestigious recognition of sustainability best practice in Australia and New Zealand.

The Awards allow potential sponsors the opportunity to reach influential individuals that make decisions within tertiary education institutions: in facilities management; senior management and academia, as well as individuals within other sector support organisations, government decision makers and business. Exposure is through our national and international communication channels and net-works prior to, during and after the Awards. All sponsors are given maximum exposure throughout the Awards Cycle.

Sponsors are also given the opportunity to take part in the judging of the Awards, for excellent networking opportunities, as well as presenting an Award at the Awards ceremony, allowing high profile exposure of your organisation to distinguished guests.

Run by ACTS, the 2012 Awards will be announced at a fabulous dinner and Awards ceremony, at Customs House, on 27 September 2012 at the 12th ACTS International conference in Brisbane, Queensland 26 – 28 September 2012. This will be YOUR opportunity to meet, learn from and share sustainability best practice, within the higher and vocational education sector.
