UWCF provides school readiness and academic support for 17,973 children while single mothers work to support their families.

6,597 families were helped in 2010 to find and maintain financial stability. UWCF helps families to improve job skills, manage debt, build savings and improve earning power through certification and higher education.

UWCF provides medical and mental health services for 7,622 children and adults whether or not they have insurance.

Providing support to stabilize a family crisis is important to the well-being of a compassionate community.

UNITED WAYEducationHELPING KIDS SUCCEED IN SCHOOL    Partnering  with  communities  and  parents  to  improve  school  readiness  and  academic  success.

   Providing  after-­school  tutoring,  homework  assistance  and  mentoring  for  at-­risk  youth.  

How  are  we  doing  this?    We  provide  opportunities  to  increase  the  percentage  of  children  that  enter  school    with  the  language  skills  they  need  to  read.  They  also    work  to  improve  FCAT  scores,  attendance  and  promotion  to  the  next  grade  for  students  grades  K  –  12.

What  does  it  mean  to  you?  Kids  who  enter  school    ready  to  succeed  are  more  likely  to  graduate  and    become  a  stable,  educated,  reliable  workforce.

IncomePROMOTING FINANCIAL STABILITY FOR FAMILIES    Supporting  basic  needs  while  increasing    

   Helping  hardworking  families  access  resources    to  maximize  income.  

How  are  we  doing  this?knowledge  and  competency  for  families  so  that  they    can  increase  their  savings  and  credit  scores  and    improve  their  job  skills.

What  does  it  mean  to  you?  Employees  who      

health  and  domestic  problems.  This  keeps  your    workforce  moving  forward.

HealthIMPROVING PEOPLE’S HEALTH   Increase  access  to  and  utilization  of  health  services.  

   Increase  knowledge  and  personal  responsibility.  

   Reduce  avoidable  hospitalizations,  institutionalization    and  incarceration

How  are  we  doing  this?  We  work  to  educate  and  improve  health  through  preventative  services  while  helping  people  improve  health  indicators  such  as  blood  pressure,  weight  and  blood  sugar  levels.    Programs  also  help  people  with  addiction  regain  control  of  their  lives.

What  does  it  mean  to  you?  A  healthy  workforce  is    on  the  job.  And  our  services  for  people  of  all  ages,  including  children  and  the  disabled,  are  especially    helpful  to  your  employees  who  are  parents  or    caregivers  to  family  members  in  need.

Safety NetADDRESSING COMMUNITY NEEDS    Short-­term  support  and  resources  for  initial    stabilization  of  a  crisis  related  to  violent  weather,    

   Emergency  Food  for  the  hungry  and  shelter    for  the  homeless.

   Counseling  for  individuals  dealing  with  grief    and  mental  issues  that  reduces  the  need    for  hospitalization/institutionalization.

What  does  this  mean  to  you?  When  employees    face  a  family  crisis,  the  United  Way  is  there  to  help    them  get  back  on  their  feet.
