Galaxy Federal Credit Union: Steadfast Commitment to Members
Galaxy Federal Credit Union, Franklin, Pennsylvania is proud to be recognized as a 5-Star Superior Credit Union by BAUERFINANCIAL, Inc., Coral Gables, Florida, the nation’s bank and credit union rating firm. Earning this highest 5-Star rating for strength and stability, Ms Linda A. Lusher, president, and the entire team at Galaxy Federal Credit Union are proving their commitment to their members. To earn Bauer’s 5 -Star Superior rating, Galaxy Federal Credit Union must excel in areas of capital adequacy, delinquent loan levels and profitability to name just a few. The fact that it has done so for 61 consecutive quarters puts Galaxy Federal Credit Union in an even more elite group of “Exceptional Performance Credit Unions”. These institutions have consistently earned this highest rating for a minimum of 10 years without interruption.
Galaxy Federal Credit Union was established in 1940 and has been serving the banking needs of its members for 71 years. It operates through conveniently located offices on Liberty Street in Franklin and can also be found on the internet at www.galaxyfcu.com.
“Many consumers don’t realize that a credit union has members, not just depositors. Due to specific membership restrictions, there is unique bond between a credit union and its members”, explains Karen L. Dorway, president of the research firm. "Because of this built-in relationship, credit unions, like Galaxy Federal Credit Union, have a step up in knowing how to serve each member individually.” Galaxy Federal Credit Union: “Where YOU Belong.” BAUERFINANCIAL, Coral Gables, Florida, the nation’s leading independent bank and credit union rating and research firm, has been reporting on and analyzing the performance of U.S. banks and credit unions since 1983. No institution pays BauerFinancial to rate it, nor can any choose to be excluded. Consumers may obtain star-ratings by visiting www.bauerfinancial.com.

Web and software development firm, Allegheny Graphics is proud to announce the launch of our newly redesigned website, allegheny-graphics.com. “After years of serving our clients' needs above our own, our website found itself looking like the cobbler's poor, shoeless child,” said lead developer Tiffany Kuchta. In circulation since 2005, with its soft blues, vibrant floral imagery and 760px content width, the old AG website both looked and felt like a relic of a bygone era. {You see, an era in internet years is much shorter than an era in real life.} But on a quiet, Wednesday afternoon while the rest of the world was at lunch, everything changed. AG bid farewell to the past and said hello to our shiny, new friend. The new and improved allegheny-graphics.com operates as both a portfolio and a window into our world. Why don't you stop by? alleghenygraphics.com

The Venango Area Chamber of Commerce names R.N. Goss Gas Products the 2011 Business of the Year and Venango Technology Center as the 2011 Partner in Business. They will be recognized at a Chamber mixer at The Movies at Cranberry at the Cranberry Mall at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 12. The Venango Area Chamber of Commerce's nomination committee chooses the Business of the Year using a specific set of criteria that include active membership in the chamber, industry achievement, and community support and investment.
R.N. Goss Gas Products, the parent company for Provanta, Goss Gas and Renovex, is located on route 8 in Reno, PA. As a local independent
distributor of industrial gases and welding supplies, Goss Gas Products has been supplying Western Pennsylvania with compressed gases and related equipment for nearly 80 years.
Goss Gas Products was established by Robert Norman Goss in 1934 during the Great Depression. The propane, welding supplies, and industrial gas businesses were all originally located at a site on Seventh Street in Oil City and operated as one business for many years. The businesses were moved to their current locations in Reno in 1960. Eventually Goss Gas separated its residential propane business from the industrial gas and welding supply business with the launch of Provanta in 2000.
Provanta is a provider of residential and commercial bulk propane. Propane is a by-product of both the natural gas and crude oil refining processes and all of Provanta’s propane is produced here in northwestern Pennsylvania.
In 1996 Renovex was added to the business line-up, adding grill cylinder reconditioning and a distribution facility for the Blue Rhino propane cylinder exchange program. Here cylinders are reconditioned, repainted, precision refilled and then trans-ported to exchange locations throughout the northeastern United States and Canada. In 2004 a new facility was built in Barkeyville to meet the demands of the growing business. With 65 full-time employees on site, Renovex has continued to be innovative in its production processes and has recorded an outstanding safety record. Renovex was recently recognized by Blue Rhino award for excellence in Product Quality and in Customer Service.
Please join the Chamber in honoring R.N. Goss Gas Products and Venango Technology Center at a celebration mixer, hosted by Action Auto, Williams Decorating, Edward Jones Seneca, Changing Times Telephone Service and Klapec Auto Body Inc. Thursday, May 12th at The Movies at Cranberry.

The Venango Technology Center has been
named as the 2011 Partner in Business. This award recognizes a non-profit, governmental or educational organization that has developed a close partnership with the business community as a means to achieve its mission.
Noted by some as “the best kept secret in Venango County”, The Venango Technology Center was built in 1968 through the vision of a small group of educators. Seven area schools participated in the joint venture and continue to be affiliated with the technology center, with students attending from Cranberry, East and West Forest, Franklin, Oil City, Titusville, and Valley Grove School Districts.
The philosophy of the school was and continues to be predicated on an open admission policy. Interest and willingness to profit from the instruction are the primary objectives and the founding philosophy forming the basis for the School’s operation. Since its beginning the Venango Technology Center stands willing and able to meet the ever-changing needs and demands of the business-labor-industrial sector of the attendance area. By serving as a service center linking with the private and public sector, the school has maintained a high level of community credibility.
The center now offers secondary students career and technical training in 14 areas of study including allied health occupations, auto body repair, automotive technology, building construction, computer-aided drafting, computer information systems, cosmetology, culinary arts, electronics, building and property maintenance, machine tool technology, marketing, natural resources and welding.
With the ever changing business climate the staff and board of directors have remained committed to introducing new and innovative curriculum. Updating, changing and establishing new programs through advisory input constitute the heart of the schools programs. The response has been increased enrollment and the benefit to the region is evident in the number of businesses that employ the Technology Center graduates.
The Venango Technology Center has a history of supporting community organizations, events or initiatives with sponsor-ships, volunteerism, donated professional services or prod-ucts, financial support or a link with marketing or public re-lations campaigns.
The Adult Education Department at Venango Technology Center is comprised of a number of complementary pro-grams that enhance the career options for area adults. In-dustry training is offered at the VTC or at the place of em-ployment to meet employers’ specific needs.
Now under the direction of Mario Fontanazza, Venango Technology Center continues to update its programs and requirements in conformity with state efforts to standardize
career and technical education programs and align program offerings with industry standards.

Divani Chocolate will host a drop-off space for Clarion River Organics this summer. Clarion River Organics was
started in 2009 by a group of 10 organic produce farms in the Sligo/Callensburg area. The farmers, who are Amish,
had been struggling for years to make the connection to people who want good, fresh, organic produce so they
formed the CRO cooperative with Zeb Bartels and Nathan Holmes, who had been doing deliveries and sales calls
for them the previous year. Their goal was to build a storage building for all to use and to utilize the help of Zeb
and Nathan to find and reach the growing organic market. The mission of Clarion River Organics is to “Provide
certified organic foods striving for the highest in food quality and the lowest in environmental impact.” They
distinguish themselves by their commitment to protecting plants from pests by developing healthy, living soils; by
using only horse and human power rather than fuel-consuming vehicles for field work, and by marketing only
products grown within the watershed of the Clarion River. They are inspired to get into
the organic movement by Aaron Schwartz, the lead grower of the cooperative, who
started growing organic produce in Canada in the mid-90′s. Schwartz uses a system of
holistic soil management that tends to all the micro-nutrients as well as the living
micro-organisms vital to soil health in order to produce abundant, healthy, high quality
vegetables organically.

Peaces for You Massage Therapy and Wellness Center opened in 2010 at 1047 Allegheny Ave. in Oil City. Owner Kammi Stiller has been practicing massage therapy for eight years. The increased demand for healing and therapeutic massage led her to pursue a larger space and add additional staff to her team of experienced and caring massage therapists. The name Peaces for You reflects Stiller’s mission to offer a holistic and complete approach to restoration of the mind, body, and spirit. “Often, when one part of you is in pain or experiencing discomfort, you can feel symptoms in other areas. We take care of each piece of your well-being so you can experience inner peace and relaxation,” Stiller said. Stiller taught massage therapy at Clarion University-Venango Campus, and had previously been located in the YWCA of Oil City.
“In today’s fast-paced society, the need for stress reduction of any kind is important,” Stiller said. “Massage is a great way to provide relaxation and rejuvenation through therapeutic body work.” Peaces for You has four massage therapists working on-site. In addition to Kammi, they include Lindsey Lambert, Courtney Cyphert and Angel Muschweck Various massage techniques are offered, but Peaces for You specializes in Deep Tissue Massage, Swedish, Hot Stone, Shiatsu and Foot Reflexology. Aromatherapy is another service provided. Anyone can enjoy the many benefits of massage from busy parents and executives to athletes and senior citizens, Stiller said. “The key to a good massage experience is to listen to what your client wants from their massage. What areas are tight, how do they use their bodies, and what is their level of preferred pressure,” she said.
Stress prevention Massage therapy is being recognized more by the public as a form of stress prevention and preventative care. While health care benefits don’t typically cover the cost of massage therapy, Stiller has noticed more of her clients are viewing it as an important part of their health regimen, and not as a luxury only. Stress recovery is an important aspect of what we offer here,” Still said. “Your body and mind need that time to relax and be comforted.”
Wellness network With the success of the move, Stiller was building a network of businesses that were aligned with her mission. She used that network to tap into services that have synergy with massage therapy and compliment her holistic approach. That network brought to the same location chiropractic care, Pilates and Yoga instruction and faith-based counseling, each of which were a great fit for the existing massage therapy and salon businesses already established on-site. Chiropractor, Dr Kate Eckert is now accepting new patients at the wellness center on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Danae and Anna Mong of Impel Pilates Studio in Franklin offer remote Pilates classes at the facility. On-site counseling sessions are available with Cheri Mason MM, an ordained minister and Christian counselor and Ed Mertz, BAMDIVED. Lynne Marshall’s Headline Hair is also in the same building and offers extensive salon services.
“We work together with Peaces for You to coordinate massage services with spa services including manicures and pedicures,” Marshall said. “This allows us so much flexibility for our clients to interact between us,” said Stiller. “They can take a Pilates class and then have a cool -down massage. It’s all meant to give the client flexibility and hassle -free pampering.” Stiller and her colleagues are available for special events, off-site massage, and educational presentations on health, beauty, fitness, and stress management to service groups and organizations. Stiller is a member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals industry group. You can contact Kammi at Peaces for You by calling (814) 673-1761. Peaces For You, Eckert Chiropractic and Headline Hair will be co-hosting a chamber mixer on June 22, 2011.
