PROFESSIONAL CHORAL MUSIC AT ITS FINEST

2011-2012 THE 47TH SEASON

MUSIC THAT STIRS THE HEART, MOVES THE SOUL, IGNITES THE SPIRIT.

Kent Tritle, Music Director

Welcome to our new season! This season is rich in variety and promises to

be better than ever. We start off with a celebration of the season with

“A Royal Aff air” showcasing our magnifi cent singers in an exclusive gala

performance at The Yale Club of New York City and a special concert of

another choral showpiece, Rachmaninoff ’s Vespers, in the acoustically

perfect setting of the Church of St. Paul the Apostle.

The subscription series is entirely at Carnegie Hall featuring our critically

acclaimed performances of Handel’s Messiah and two glorious programs

emanating from Handel’s homeland in Weill Recital Hall. In February, we

plumb Bach’s heritage in Bach Family Notebook, a concert of his stunning

compositions and those of his forebears. We return in April with Songs

and Romances, a program harking to Musica Sacra’s acclaimed recording

of the same name and including Brahms’s beautiful Four Songs for women’s

chorus, two horns and harp. We will bask in the Romantic spirit with music

of Schubert and Schumann, too, in this sumptuous evening in the lovely,

chandeliered hall.

And you won’t want to miss the entertaining Soirées, the fascinating tour

of Prague and Vienna or the party in my home to celebrate the release of

our newest CD, Messages to Myself.

Join us as a subscriber and enjoy professional choral music at its fi nest all

season long. I look forward to having you with us!
