OntheeveofMalikisvisittoTehran,IraqiforcesattackAshrafresidentsandinjures10UponordersofNourial Maliki,ontheeveofhistriptoTehran,asadownpaymenttothe

clerical regime ruling Iran, Iraqi forces attackedAshraf residentsby firingbullets, and

usingsticksandtruncheons.Asaresult,10Ashrafresidentswerewounded.

Maliki,whofaceswidespreaddomestic,regionalandinternationaloppositiontomaintain

unlawfully his post as the PrimeMinister, is trying to kowtow to the demands of the

clericalregimemorethanever.

ThisattacktookplacewheninanopenaggressivemovetheIraqiforcessetupanewwatch

tower in thenorthernflankofAshraf.Anumberofresidentswhowere in thevicinityof

thesiteofthenewpost,peacefullyprotestedtothisillegalactandsoughtexplanation.

In response, the Iraqi forceswhowereunder the command ofLieutenantColonelLatif

AbdulAmirHashimalAnabi,CaptainAhmadHassanKhodheir,andLieutenantHeidar

AzabMashiattackedtheresidentsbyfiringbulletsandusingsticksthattheyhadprepared

inadvance for thispurpose.Firingbulletswasdoneby theunitunder the commandof

HeidarAzab.HeisanagentoftheIranianregimewhohaveattackedandassaultedAshraf

residentson

number

of

occasions

in

the

past.

These forces also attacked the residentsvehiclesandbroke theirwindowsand inflicted

heavydamagestothem.

Latif AbdulAmir has blatantly stated that he received all his orders for suppressive

measures from the committee within the Iraqi Prime Ministers office tasked with

suppressionofAshrafresidentsandanagentbythenameofSadeqfromthesameoffice.

OnOctober

13,

in

response

to

protests

by

officials

of

the

United

Nations

and

the

American

forces, A responsible sourcewithin the [Iraqi] security forces involved inprotection of

CampAshrafdeclaredthathisforceshavenoplantoattackthecamp.(AlsowtalIraq

radio)

TodayscriminalactandfiringattheresidentsofAshraf,beatingandinjuring10ofthem,

clearlyshow that the Iraqi forcesarenotcompetentenough toofferprotection toAshraf

and they themselvesareconsideredas thekillersof itsresidents.Thismakes theneed to

deploytheAmericanforcesandthepermanentmonitoringteamofUNAMIinsideAshraf

morecompellingthanever.

The Iranian Resistance warns against any delay in implementation of these essential

measuresandunderlinestheresponsibilityoftheUSforcestoprovideprotectiontoAshraf

residents within the framework of international treaties and the US forces obligations

undertheir

agreement

with

every

resident

of

Ashraf.
