Congratulations to our students and staff for their outstanding work in preparing for the FCAT Writes assessment.
Our students once again performed at a very high level. Eighty-eight percent of our
tested 10th grade students scored a 4.0 or above. This places Hagerty tied for the top spot in the District in this category. We met our goal to increase the number of students
who obtained a perfect score of 6.0 on the FCAT Writes resulting in the second highest increase in the number of students scoring a 6 in the District. This ranks Hagerty in
second place in the District for the number of students scoring a 6 on the FCAT Writes exam.
The District Writing Plan mandates that all students taking the FCAT Writes exam receive a major grade in their English class that reflects the student’s score on the FCAT Writes
assessment. During the week of May 9th, English 2 teachers will be informing students of their scores and the grades earned as a result of the score. All students should be
informed of their score by Friday, May 13th.
FCAT Writes score reports for parent distribution have not yet been received. Once these score reports become available, we will distribute them.
Again congratulations to our students and staff for all their hard work.

Thanks to our Community
Through the support of parents and students, Mrs. Hamilton received over $1500 in
donations to use in her classroom from DonorsChoose.org and Borders bookstores. Donations have allowed us to attain a new classroom library filled with the top young adult
literature of the past few years, classroom sets of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, materials to enhance student writing through the 6+1 Traits, and are just $100 short of
completing a project requesting supplies to aid in the instruction of vocabulary and grammar.
We would like to thank our parents for their overwhelming support in the enrichment of their child’s education, without you these projects surely would not have been possible.
