From September 2013, if you are aged 14-16 you will have more choices available to you than staying at school – instead, you can join us at Newcastle College full-time and take professional, technical or trade qualifications alongside GCSEs in core subject areas, including English, Maths and Science. Whatever you choose, we will make sure you keep your options open at 16.

Newcastle College for 14-16 year olds is suitable for any student who will benefit from a fresh approach to GCSEs and who are thinking about a specialist vocational pathway. We offer a wide range of specialisms, including; construction, engineering, creative technologies, sport, and health and social care. Vocational subjects will be delivered within Newcastle College’s industry standard facilities, including art and design studios, digital media suites, a construction academy, a health and care simulation centre and TV and music studios.

When you enrol at Newcastle College you will have access to a range of opportunities to progress onto once you complete your GCSE’s. You will be ‘guaranteed’ progression into post-16 learning and will be able to continue a vocational course full-time, or alternatively take A Levels at Newcastle Sixth Form College or perhaps start an Apprenticeship. At 18, there will also be the option for you to study a degree or equivalent Higher Education (HE) qualification, either with Newcastle College or elsewhere.

OPTIONS FOR 14-16 YEAR OLDS ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER, WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF NEW PROGRAMMES FOR 14-16.

WHY CHOOSE NEWCASTLE 14-16 COLLEGE?

CHOICE: tailor-made flexible learning built around core GCSEs including Maths, English and Science and a vocational course from a range of options across Newcastle College. It’s a chance to try something new, or develop skills you never knew you had!

GET STUCK IN: you’ll have loads of practical, hands-on lessons, great if you prefer to learn by actually doing something rather than just sitting behind a desk all day.

ENVIRONMENT: school doesn’t suit everyone - the informality and independence you get at college is more suitable for many young people, and no uniform!

FOCUSED ON YOU: smaller class sizes mean more personal help and attention. We also have superb support for those who may need additional learning support.

FACILITIES: industry standard facilities in many areas and creative learning environments with experienced, specialist and qualified teaching staff.

LOCATION: we have a dedicated centre based in Newcastle city centre and the transport links are excellent.

STAFF: our technical, trade and professional staff are expert practitioners in their own specialist area.
