Day 6 | Rousse / Veliko Tarnovo / SvistovVenture inland on an included excursion to Veliko Tarnovo, the oldest town in Bulgaria. This pretty town is located on the steep banks of the river Yantra at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. High on a peak are the remains of the medieval town of Tsarevets, where 22 tsars made history in the 2nd Bulgarian empire. We’ll re-join the ship in Svishtov and spend a relaxing afternoon cruising the Danube River through the Bulgarian countryside. Meals: B, L, D

Day 7 | Iron GatesThe natural beauty of the mighty Danube River is on full display as we make our way around beautiful bends and through the picturesque “Iron Gates”, named for the two hydroelectric dams that control the waterflow. Watch from the sun deck as we pass through the narrow gorge between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains; the natural border between Serbia and Romania. Keep an eye out for the many caves and rock sculptures hiding among the steep hills overlooking the Danube. Meals: B, L, D

Day 8 | BelgradeAfter breakfast we'll arrive at the juncture of the Danube and the Sava Rivers in Belgrade. We’ll enjoy an included excursion tour of the “White City”, one of the most historically rich places in all of Serbia. This capital city has a bustling pedestrian area with plenty of shops, markets, museums, and fortresses ripe for exploration. Meals: B, L, D

Day 9 | Mohacs / KalocsaThis morning we’ll visit the tiny harbor town of Mohács, a melting pot of nations. Two important battles took place in the fields around this town, which had a huge impact on European history. The battle in 1526 was lost and was the beginning of the reign of the Ottoman Empire over Hungary for the next century and a half. In 1687, the Austrian troops and Habsburg allies overturned the empire and regained the cities of the Danube. This afternoon choose between relaxing on the ship or the optional excursion to the Puszta to enjoy the breathtaking countryside. Meals: B, L, D

Day 10 | Mohacs / BudapestEarly this morning we dock for an included excursion tour of Budapest, the capital and largest city of Hungary. A large portion of this city is a World Heritage Site, including the banks of the Danube, Andrassy Avenue, the Buda Castle quarter, Heroes’ Square, and the Millennium Underground Railway. With 80 geothermal hot springs, the third-largest Parliament building in the world, and the second-largest Synagogue, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy in this bustling city. A special Hungarian evening is planned, including traditional Hungarian music and an evening cruise down the Danube to see this beautiful city by night. Meals: B, L, D

Day 11 | BratislavaDiscover the Slovak capital of Bratislava on an included excursion. The city is home to the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the old city walls, and the summer residence of the archbishop. You can also see Bratislava Castle, high above the city. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSWhen should I make my reservation?Once you have decided on a tour, we suggest making your reservation as soon as possible to ensure availability. Many of our tours sell out shortly after they are released to the public.

How are air reservations handled? All Double & Single Package costs include roundtrip air from most major U.S. gateways. Please refer to page 86 for details. If you would like to purchase your own air, we offer a Without Air package. You'll find the Without Air cost reduction amount on each tour page, directly under the Tour Cost Per Person. If arranging your own air, please confirm schedules with Landmark before purchasing. Please note that airline schedules are subject to change and Landmark is unable to confirm air schedules sooner than 30 days before tour departure.

Can Landmark Tours assist in finding a roommate?Yes. If you are a single traveler interested in finding a roommate for the trip, we can coordinate pairing you with an additional traveler if one is found. Please note that we will never finalize the double reservation until you have had the opportunity to thoroughly discuss the matter with your prospective roommate. We will always await confirmation from both travelers before proceeding.

What kind of hotels do you book?As a longtime tour operator, we understand the importance of quality accommodations. We select each hotel with a focus on amenities, comfort, and location, and we’re proud to list the names and cities of the hotels being used in each tour package.

Are triple accommodations offered?Yes. Some hotels offer a rollaway bed at additional cost, although we are unable to guarantee availability. Two travelers may be required to share a queen or double bed. Please be aware that this may not be comfortable for three adults. Contact us for Triple pricing for your desired trip.

I'm nervous about traveling solo. How do you help? With Landmark Tours, traveling solo doesn't mean you will be traveling alone. You'll share your trip with like-minded travelers who are all excited to see and explore, just like you! On a Landmark tour, you can feel safe knowing the details are covered and you'll enjoy many experiences that might be difficult to do on your own.

Why do single travelers have to pay more?If you are traveling by yourself, the costs of hotel accommodations are incurred by one person instead of two. Therefore, single accommodations cost more than “double” or “triple” packages. A limited number of single rooms are available on each tour.

How many beds are in each room?Rooms will have either two queens or two double beds. Although not guaranteed, a limited number of king beds may be available and must be requested at the time of reservation.

What do the Hotels serve for Breakfast?A full breakfast will be included each day. Typically breakfast will be buffet-style and include a selection of breads, jam, cereal, fruits, coffee, tea, milk, and juice. Most buffets will also include eggs, meats, pastries and yogurt. On occasion, a cooked to order breakfast will be available for each guest.

What is typical for an included Dinner?Dinner will vary depending on our location, sometimes being served at local restaurants or at our hotel. Most dinners offer a choice of entrée with some selections made at the dinner table and others selected ahead of time. In order to accommodate a variety of preferences and guest dietary requirements, or to facilitate a busy schedule, some dinners will be served buffet-style.

How do you arrange seating on the Motorcoach?Seating is assigned and a rotation system is used. Each day our guests will occupy a different seat. In order to provide a fair experience for all passengers, we are unable to accept special seating requests and appreciate your participation with the rotation system.

Is there a restroom on the Motorcoach?Yes, although we plan our tours so that the typical time between restroom stops is no longer than 1.5 to 2 hours.

How much time will I spend in the Motorcoach? Each tour day varies depending on the itinerary and the number of miles that are involved. Morning departures generally range from 8:00am to 9:00am. Hotel arrivals are scheduled anywhere from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. We plan our tours so that the typical amount of time between stops on the motorcoach is no longer than 1.5 to 2 hours.
