What is the story and what content is going to be included in your environment? My animation is a story-based game set in a forest in autumn.  It’s about a baby fox who wakes up and can’t find it’s mother, It then explores around the forest finding friends and escaping danger.

Objective. What is the purpose of your design? How will it meet the client brief and audience? Who is the audience for this design? What benefits will this design offer to the audience?

Target AudienceI decided that I was going to make my story 7+ because it has no gore or violence. I chose this age rating because I

think people around that age will enjoy the graphic narrative as it has animals and lots of pictures, I would also like older people to enjoy it and they might like the graphic style.

A game that is similar to mine called fire watch sold more than five hundred thousand copies within a month of its release. By the end of 2016, over one million copies were sold across all versions of the game. So there are people that like this art style and would by a similar game.

Structure/Constraints. How will the assets be constructed, what techniques are you going to use to build your scene?  Where will you get your textures from?  What are the legal constraints i.e. copyright, ethical what do you need to make sure off to not discriminate or represent certain individual groups in a negative way?My assets are going to be created in cinema 4D and my scene is going to be built within unreal engine or cinema 4D.

Visual Design. Briefly describe the overall style of your models and animation Describe what it would look like; what existing designs can you compare it to?I chose and abstract low poly art style because it is easier to do and I really like how it looks. The story is set in a forest at autumn and uses solid colours as it looks like with the low poly shapes.

Look and Feel. Include a mock-up or sketch of your proposed models include how it will be animated, detailing style, choice of modelling, texturing style etc.The game is going to be in a forest and use a low poly art style. The textures will be solid colours with little details on them and I will make the animation in Unreal Engine so that it looks nicer and renders fast.

Here is an example of A low poly tree that I would make for my environment.

Technical Specifications. Identify what technique you are going to use for your models and animation, is it going to use a high polygon count or low? what is the output size going to be?

I am going to use box and spline modeling to produce my 3D models. They will use a low polygon count as they are easier to produce, render, texture and will look nicer than what I could make using a photorealistic style. The output size will be quite low as it is not using highly detailed textures and low polygon count.

Legal and Ethical Consideration of what do you need to be aware of e.g. copyright, causing offense, decency, and taste issues? Race, sexualitythat is trying to look for his mum after she went out to get food. It is a light-hearted game for children and adults with no violence or other aspects that could justify a higher rating. It could be a problem as there is a part of the game where it is night time and you can see a light in the forest that is from a person and scares the fox. Some children could find this scary.

Some Copyright and Intellectual Property issues I need to consider are Music (Royalties), protecting my work and respecting others copyright. I can get a PRS license. PRS

for Music pay royalties to all their members when their work is performed, broadcast, streamed, downloaded, reproduced, played in public or used in film and TV. They support them by influencing policy, supporting and hosting awards and events, and investing in new technology to ensure that they are fit for the digital music age.

Delivery. List what you intend to have once you have finished your models and animation.I intend to have a finished 3D animation and graphic narrative.

Example:Final model and animation completed by 21st Oct presented to the client.

Forlorn:

My Graphic Narrative begins with a baby fox sleeping alone in its home. It wakes up to find that its mother isn’t there, so the fox goes on an adventure throughout the forest finding strange new animals and trying to keep out of danger

I think I was ok at managing my production as I got the work in by the deadline. I was spending a lot of my time working on the 3D animation project instead of working on my graphic narrative, this meant I had to do most of my work near the deadline making the quality of my work lower than it could have been

I could have managed my time better as it was all left kind of last minute but I got it done in time. If I was to do it again I would spread the time out so that it is less

stressful near the deadline and make some ways of keeping time like a Gantt chart or something and make specific times for doing work because I get easily distracted and find it really hard to get started. I also need to work on my written work as I am not very good at it and it makes my overall grade lower.

Some problems I encountered were the time that I took to finish my graphic narrative. I didn’t have enough time to make my story in a computer program and make it look good so I decided to draw it instead and I think this turned out really well.

Another problem I encountered was trying to lay out my story in a digital format, In a physical copy it would have been a picture per page but I didn’t know how to do that on my blog so I just made it a slideshow and uploaded the picture separately.

I learned and developed some skills during this project, I got better at drawing, I learned some new techniques, I got better at using photoshop actions, scanning and exporting/compressing images.

I got a good response for my graphic narrative,  people liked the style and the idea

of the story but some got confused at what was happening throughout the story. I would add more pictures to fix this or I could add some text to explain what is happening in the story. I made a survey to see if people would be interested in it.

I think I achieved my goals for the project, I am pleased with how my drawings turned out and the overall final product. If I was to do it again I would manage my time better so that I can make a better final outcome and would try and make my written work better.

Based on the information above produce a detailed audience profile summary of your target audience and how you will advertise/market your product:

Age, gender etc. Clothes Technology – e.g. what console and any other tech. TV/Film/Internet

be as specific as you can.

Don’t forget to note the classification – make sure you are not targeting an audience that the game is not suitable for!

Where possible consider audience responses.

I think clothes would be a good idea as the low poly design would look nice to people who didn’t know where it was from and people who know the game would like it too.I would mainly market my game towards pc and console users as they have the highest player base. And I think the best place to advertise would be youtube as the majority of kids and teenagers watch youtube more than TV and youtubers play games and gather lots of attention towards them.My game will be targeted at both men and women as it is basically 50%-50%And my game is suitable for all ages so I would advertise it as a normal game not specifically for kids so everyone will be able to enjoy it.
