Organizations can qualify as a sub-ordinate of AYF and be recognized under the AYF “tax exempt umbrella.” The process is a relatively Simple one and there is no cost to your organization once you pay your AYF membership

fee.

As we all know 501(c)(3) status is an important component In running your youth football and cheer program. 501(c)(3) status allows you to solicit and accept donations that are exempt from federal taxes and is also a requirement when applying for a state

sales tax exemption certificate.

Confirm your 501(c)(3) status using the search service at www.guidestar.org . If your org does not have status, despite having applied, it means your request is pending or was rejected by the IRS,

most common reasons for rejection are the EIN provided does not match the name of the applying organization.

Also, note that orgs. That fail to file a tax return for 3 consecutive

years will have their 501(c)(3) status revoked by the IRS.
