• Conflict gets attention• Ross contradicts himself• Tweet against liberals, then

conservatives. Repeat.

Amass a following with auto-followers

• Followed 200+ auto-refollowers• Created a pseudo popularity

Spam the Internet• Created a facebook group to promote our twit• Spammed forums, youtube• Swineonline tried to poach followers

Tweet About Trending Topics

• "#youmightbealiberalif you've had an abortion while holding back the arm of a baby seal clubber”

• This gives our twit exposure to people searching the trends

• They appear in 2/3 or our tweets that were retweeted

Churn Popular Twits• Found a list of the 1000 most popular twits• Created a program to follow them all over a

period of time, unfollowing the ones that did not reciprocate

• This resulted in more exposure

What we Learned

• Using auto refollowers worked!• Tweeting a trending topic always resulted in a

few extra followers within minutes• Very few of our facebook friends use twitter• We did not cultivate relationships enough• Becoming a popular twit takes time• Twitter users are fickle• We didn’t know how to use twitter
